Azim Premji Foundation established the Azim Premji University, Bengaluru in 2010 and the second campus is in Bhopal. The Foundation works extensively on Education and other development domains, across India to realize the Foundation’s vision of facilitating ‘a just equitable, humane and sustainable society’. The University supports the Foundation through its programmes of study that prepare graduates and development professionals with integrity, competence and social commitment. The University offers a liberal undergraduate degree in the Sciences, Economics and Humanities and postgraduate degrees in the fields of Education, Health, Livelihoods, Sustainability, Public Policy and Law & Development. Knowledge Resource Centre

Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC) is a network of people and libraries and its aim is to enable knowledge exchange within and outside the Azim Premji Foundation. The University library, which is part of KRC, has the primary objective of catering to the information and knowledge needs of University Students, Faculty, Scholars and civil society partners of the University.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Master’s / Ph.D. in library and information science
  • Eight to ten years’ experience in a reputed research or academic institution in India.
  • Relevant exposure or experience in working with voluntary organizations, government and other purely non-academic institutions (Desirable) 

Job Description:

  • To support the overall development of the library.
  • To make a strategic plan to acquire collections through purchases and special acquisitions both in
  • Print on paper as well e-resources.
  • Skills on negotiation with vendors and publishers for library resources.
  • To plan and conduct tailor-made workshops for users.
  • To provide research support services to the user community such as literature search, compiling bibliographies and reference management.
  • Ability to navigate various library resources, including online databases, electronic journals, datasets, and print materials.
  • Provide in-person and virtual reference services to library patrons, including answering questions, assisting with research, and providing instruction on the use of library resources and tools.
  • Familiarity with different kinds of open access resources in a range of disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of reference management tools such as Zotero, Mendeley, and Endnote.
  • To develop the library’s on-line presence to promote the service and collections.
  • Overall knowledge of IT systems including familiarity with library IT packages and systems.
  • Working knowledge of LMS software (Koha), digital library software’s (DSpace and EPrints), Archival software (AtoM).
  • To develop and maintain a new and existing digital repository and archives.
  • Adopt the latest tools, applications, and technologies to ensure innovative services and faster delivery. 

Abilities, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • General knowledge of roles & responsibilities in all academic/Community library services.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development, participation, and contributions (preferred).
  • Willing to take new initiatives voluntarily or/and on the requirement by the university.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written
  • Working knowledge in the Content, reference management and Archives. (desirable).
