About the Organization

SBI Youth for India is an Indian rural Fellowship program initiated by SBI, funded and managed by the SBI Foundation in partnership with reputed NGOs. The selected Fellows work with experienced NGOs on challenging grass root development projects.

The SBI Youth for India Fellowship was started in 2011 with 27 Fellows; currently, 450+ Fellows have completed the Fellowship and more than 70% of them have continued to work in the development sector while some have gone on to set up their own social enterprises.

Job Description

The Deputy Program Manager will be an integral part of the SBI YFI team and will contribute to developing and strengthening the program. The Deputy Program Manager will be responsible for supporting Fellows and executing the day-to-day operations of the SBI YFI Fellowship program. This role will be involved in every stage of the Fellowship including recruitment of Fellows and partner NGOs, preparation for the program, coordination of major events including Orientation, mid-point reviews, Valediction, and monitoring & evaluation of the program throughout the 13-month Fellowship. The below-mentioned duties are only indicative and the individual will be required to assist the Head of Operations and Program Head in all activities required for smooth functioning of the program.

Job Responsibilities  

  • Manage overall & day-to-day program operations.
  • Organize and coordinate Program events including Orientation, mid-point Reviews, Valediction, and Conferences on various development topics.
  • Maintain partnerships with partner NGOs and other stakeholders of the Fellowship.
  • Offer facilitation and support to Fellows in the field. Support them in their professional and personal growth during and after the Fellowship by engaging them through relevant opportunities.
  • Conduct site visits in the field & work with the Fellows to adjust to rural norms, customs, particularly work culture.
  • Ensure that Fellows adhere to the Code of Conduct of the Fellowship and maintain the true spirit of Fellowship.
  • Coordinate with the Fellows and their mentors to ensure that blockers are removed and projects are on track and reporting is timely.
  • Coordinate with Fellows to ensure quality documentation in the form of project reports and any other publication as required (compilation of grass root stories, unique experiences, insights or emotional journeys).
  • Develop systems, forms and records to ensure the smooth functioning of the program activities.
  • Ideate to improve the program design & implementation to improve the Fellowship experience as well as the impact at the grassroots.
  • Contribute to the application, selection and placement of the Fellows.
  • Participate in creating & managing a monitoring and evaluation framework for the Fellowship.
  • Extend support for any other aspect of the Fellowship as and when required.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar work profile, preferably working directly with volunteer management, or professional management experience.
  • Rural development Fellowship experience is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Proficiency in MS Office & Google Suite. Skilled in data analysis and visualization & a strong acumen for information technology. The ideal candidate should be able to design, analyze, and work with qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Exposure to communications and marketing for both
  • internal and external stakeholders. Strong writing skills- able to write media collateral, emails, and reports quickly and effectively.
  • Exposure to handling operations, project management & event management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment. People-oriented, with demonstrated evidence of collaborative communication skills and ability to communicate empathetically and transparently with individuals from varied backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Working knowledge of analyzing the financials and ability to manage the project stakeholders and budgeting aspects of program development and project scale up.
  • Professional experience or a strong interest in social development and social justice. Committed and open to working with diverse communities and organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering presentations. Ability to be clear, concise, and engaging in spoken language when communicating with others.
  • Ability to work well as a team and contribute effectively under pressure and in response to rapidly changing needs.
  • Ability to travel to remote, rural locations and other work areas, as and when required.
  • Reporting: The position will report to the Head of Operations, SBI Youth for India & shall closely work with the Program Managers in the team.

Salary & Position Availability:

Salary would be commensurate with experience. We expect successful candidates to join us at the earliest.
