**Job Overview:**

The Development Specialist will play a vital role in Room to Read’s fundraising efforts, contributing significantly to the organization’s annual fundraising goal.  Based in New Delhi, this position will focus on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with individual donors, corporations, and foundations.  The role involves managing a portfolio of donors, supporting fundraising events in India, and collaborating with the global team.

**Duties and Responsibilities:**

* **Fundraising (90%):** Manage and grow a donor portfolio aiming for $500,000 in annual revenue, with a stretch goal of $750,000. This will involve securing funding from corporations, foundations, and individual donors. Develop and implement annual stewardship plans. Support fundraising events through various tasks including guest list management and post-event relationship cultivation. Proactively identify and pursue new funding opportunities in India. Develop long-term cultivation and stewardship strategies to enhance donor engagement and increase long-term giving.  Recommend potential funding opportunities to donors.

* **Other (10%):** Analyze the Indian market and donor trends to inform market plans. Collaborate with the global team to create donor communication materials. Represent Room to Read at fundraising and awareness-building events. Utilize Salesforce (NPSP) and other tools for donor management, revenue tracking, and reporting. Collaborate with global relationship managers on key accounts. Perform other duties as needed.

**Qualifications:**

* Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fundraising with high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and/or foundations, or in sales to high-net-worth individuals.

* Bachelor’s degree (preferred).

* Proven track record of securing corporate, foundation, or individual funding in the $10,000 to $100,000 range, and managing donor relationships.

* Proficiency in cultivating new and managing existing relationships with foundation and corporate partners and high-net-worth individual donors.

* Excellent public speaking and presentation skills for in-person and virtual events.

* Skilled in developing strategies to engage and retain donors.

* Proven success in creating fundraising pipelines.

* Proficiency in using database systems such as Salesforce.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

* Demonstrated understanding of Indian CSR grant provisions and the landscape.

* Strong cross-cultural communication skills and attention to detail.
