**Job Overview:**

The Development Specialist will play a vital role in helping Room to Read achieve its ambitious fundraising goals.  Based in New Delhi, this position will focus on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with individual donors, corporations, and foundations to generate significant annual revenue.  The role involves managing a portfolio of donors, supporting fundraising events, and collaborating with colleagues across Room to Read’s global offices.

**Duties and Responsibilities:**

* **Fundraising (90%):** Manage and grow a donor portfolio targeting $500,000 in annual revenue, with a stretch goal of $750,000. This will involve securing funding from corporations, foundations, and individual donors. Develop and implement annual stewardship plans. Support fundraising events in India, including managing guest lists and communications. Proactively identify and pursue new funding opportunities. Develop and implement strategies to cultivate and retain donors, increasing long-term giving.

* **Other (10%):** Analyze the Indian market and donor trends to inform market plans. Collaborate with the global team to create donor communication materials. Represent Room to Read at fundraising and awareness-building events. Utilize Salesforce (NPSP) and other tools for donor management, revenue tracking, and reporting. Collaborate with global relationship managers on key accounts.  Perform other duties as needed.

**Qualifications:**

* **Required:** Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fundraising with high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and/or foundations, or in sales to high-net-worth individuals. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Proven track record of securing funding in the $10,000 to $100,000 range.  Proficiency in managing and cultivating relationships with foundation and corporate partners and high-net-worth individual donors. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.  Proven ability to develop and implement successful fundraising strategies.  Experience using database systems like Salesforce. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Demonstrated understanding of the Indian CSR grant landscape. Strong cross-cultural communication skills and attention to detail.
