Position Summary

To advance Teach For All’s 25-year vision and intended outcomes, we are seeking a Director, Global Conference and Events. The global conference is a much awaited event which brings together members of the network’s broader community to connect, learn, and celebrate with each other.

This role will work with a team (including the host partner country team, content experts, and various senior leaders) to envision, design and deliver on this conference. This role will work closely with a key group of leaders to define the objectives, the theme and learning journey and the overall learning experience design. They will also lead an agile team collaborating across different stakeholders in the global organization to ensure a memorable, inspiring and impactful global conference for the Teach For All Network. This role will be part of the Teach for All’s Learning Experiences team. A percentage of this role will also be involved in planning and executing other events and learning experiences as needed – physical, virtual and hybrid.

About the Team 

This role sits within the Learning Experiences Team whose goal is to strategically co-design and implement a cohesive suite of impactful, inclusive and user-centered events, learning experiences, platforms and resources, so our network can connect, learn, and collectively reimagine more equitable systems for children everywhere. It is an agile global team of  learning designers, learning strategists, event designers, content designers, digital learning experts and project managers.

As a Director, Global Conference and Events at Teach For All, you will engage in the following and/or similar activities: 

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver a successful, inspiring and impactful global conference on an annual basis. Other responsibilities include playing a key role in other events and learning experiences as the need arises.

Key elements of the role include 

  • Managing the design and execution of the Global Conference
  • Ensure that the global conference is user-centered;  reflective of diversity, equity and inclusion principles;  and can be differentiated to meet the needs of different stakeholders both virtually and in person 
  • Working collaboratively with the CEO and in diverse, agile teams to achieve goals while exercising judgment and managing time across multiple work streams  at once
  • Work with programmatic teams and the network to surface main topics that should be addressed in relation to the theme
  • Identify potential external speakers (known influential voices) to be invited for key sessions (such as plenaries)
  • Support logistics lead of event to define the budget,  logistics and tech needs that will support the implementation and achievement of the stated objectives
  • Ensure adequate language services for the event 
  • Design an evaluation strategy to draw key learnings from the event 
  • Ensure that peer and partner feedback informs the design for future conferences 
  • Engage with external stakeholders to learn and share learning

As the ideal candidate, you will bring: 

  • Proven experience managing in-person and virtual education events
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of event-planning technology and web-based services
  • Strong experience in logistics and event management
  • Proven expertise in working in agile team settings 
  • Ability to build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders and external partners including people in leadership positions
  • Experience of delivering complex projects with strict deadlines
  • Interest in and exposure to practices which promote inclusive learning environments
  • An orientation to creativity & innovation, while also valuing and utilizing best practices and past learning
  • Ability to exercise judgment in juggling competing priorities and managing time across multiple projects at once
  • Mastery of the English language in a professional setting
  • Strong self-starter
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally

Compensation

Salary for this position is competitive and dependent on country of hire, prior work experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Work Authorization

Travel and Hours

Travel is possible when it is safe to do so and in accordance with local travel guidelines. Given that we work across different time zones, some non-traditional hours for early or later calls are an expectation of this role.
