About The/Nudge:

The/Nudge is an action institute working towards a poverty-free India, within our lifetime. We partner with governments, markets, and civil society to build resilient livelihoods for all. We are a collective of some of India’s best leaders and entrepreneurs from across industry, academia, government, and development sectors, and our work is organized across three impact streams:

Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (CSDE): exists to enable underprivileged youth to lead flourishing lives

About Transforming Agriculture for Small Farmers (TASF):

Do you want to use your business skills and leadership capabilities to harness the energy of the private sector to transform the lives of 10 million smallholder farmers? Do you want to contribute towards doubling their incomes and reduce the variability? Come join us – co-lead the Transforming Agriculture for Small Farmers initiative.

We are a mission driven team and are aspiring to improve the lives of smallholder farmers by getting companies with innovative interventions (who are currently focusing on mid and large farmers) to serve small farmers. This will involve helping develop commercial and innovative viable solutions, getting companies that are open to serving small farmers to adopt them, and in the longer term, both creating an enabling ecosystem that supports such efforts and addresses ecosystem barriers as they arise. We will be actively scanning the market to identify high potential and innovative interventions, using our networks to reach out to organizations working with such interventions so we can get them to partner with us, identify potential commercially viable models, doing action research to understand and refine the models, engaging with others in the ecosystem interested in this target audience, etc. A more detailed description of this in the document ‘Transforming Agriculture for Small Farmers – An Overview 2022 02 13’.

At The/Nudge you will:

work with the TASF team to identify innovative products/services and processes to increase farmers’ income
leverage your business and creative skills to help the team tweak different existing business models to serve small farmers
engage with path breaking agri-tech start-ups and private companies to get them to expand their business lines to serve small farmers
work with the team to uncover learnings/ insights and use them to build our presence in the ecosystem
leverage your networking and relationship skills to get ecosystem players to build a supportive ecosystem to help innovative solutions reach farmers at scale
manage the highly motivated and passionate team – from supporting them on senior relationships ,guiding them on insights and business models to helping prioritize and get the outcomes we need as a team
support the team in building networks within The/Nudge and integrate the initiative with other aligned efforts
handle program management of the initiative which includes monitoring, prioritizing and making trade offs as and when required

Apply if you have:

an overall experience of 15+ years and leadership experience of at least 5+ years of independently managing business units/P&L responsibility
a target-driven, ambitious, high-performance background, with a history of exceeding expectations and driving excellence in sales/relationship management
a proven track record of building successful businesses from the ground up, ideally in recent roles
the experience of leading small, high-energy teams in an ambiguous environment
the willingness to travel
