Language and Learning Foundation (www.languageandlearningfoundation.org) is a New Delhi-based non-profit organization with the vision of enhancing equitable student learning, especially language and literacy development, through the professional development of teachers and teacher educators, building/sharing knowledge, and implementing projects in collaboration with state governments. LLF currently works with seven state governments across the country.

LLF aims to improve the Foundational learning outcomes of all children in government primary schools. LLF has collaborated with multiple state governments to scale its FLN programs focusing on Teacher Training, Material Development, Teacher Coaching and Mentoring. LLF also drives systemic change by enhancing the system’s capacity at the district, state and national levels.

Multiple studies, including a Development Impact Bond-based study in Haryana, have proven LLF’s significant impact on student learning outcomes. Premier institutions across India and the globe, including Tata Trusts, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, HT Parekh Foundation, UNICEF, HCL and others, support LLF in delivering quality education.

LLF is implementing outcome based FLN programs in various districts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Chhattisgarh states. As part of this, LLF is initiating a FLN program in Chandauli district from the month of April 2023.

Position Summary

LLF is seeking outcome-oriented and data-driven candidates to manage large-scale projects impacting lakhs of children in government schools across the District(s). As part of the district team, you will work closely with the Government stakeholders and LLF State teams to strategize, plan and execute program activities to improve children’s Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) outcome at scale.

The District Academic Coordinator will report to the District Program Manager and will be responsible for implementation of the program in the district schools.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

● The District Academic Coordinator will work as a senior district LLF staff and will take overall responsibility for the field implementation and academic quality

● S/He will support Demo Support Teams (DSTs) in planning, designing and developing academic quality frameworks and materials. Eg.: Cluster level teacher meeting materials, handouts and support block academic coordinators in implementation of same

● Support the DST and M&E team in designing assessment tools, classroom observation tools, and other required monitoring formats and ensure implementation of the same in the program district

● Work closely with District Resource Group (DRGs) to enhance their understanding of the FLN and pedagogy

● Design and implement Training of Trainers (ToT) program for district resource group members

● Develop and execute a plan for continuous professional development of the District/Block resource group

● Identify the professional development/capacity building needs of the District Academic Leadership, ARPs, teachers and block academic coordinators and take necessary measures to conduct capacity building program for them

● Support and mentor LLF’s Block Academic Coordinators (BAC) to work with government supportive supervision staff i.e. Academic Resource Persons (ARPs) in classroom visits, joint observations and giving feedback to the teachers

● Provide guidance and support to BACs understand ARP specific capacity & support requirements and teacher support requirements. and support in a collective manner to promote their competence through on hand support or counselling.

● Support and mentor BACs in delivering committed program outcomes with quality within given timelines and budgets

● Support district manager in managing stakeholder relationships and outcome-oriented conversations with District Education Officers, DIET faculties and Block Education Officers

● Understand program priorities and delegate responsibilities accordingly across team members and take necessary support from other state/central team members

● Document best practices, case studies, and success stories from the field for information dissemination across stakeholders

● Monitor daily, weekly, monthly data based on the M&E needs and track FLN outcomes as per prescribed monitoring indicators

● Any other tasks/responsibilities assigned for the project by the DPM, State Manager, Senior/Program Manager

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

● Post-Graduation are equivalent degree required and preferably Hindi/Maths Literature background.

● 5+ years’ experience of working in education projects that involve training, material development, and capacity building.

● Experience of work in early grades /primary education projects is desirable.

● Good Training knowledge and Facilitation Skill

● Knowledge in Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint and Word

● Good understanding on developing instruction design framework.

● Good in Program & people management

● Good team worker and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams
