IFC’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Sustainability Advice and Solutions Department (CEG) serves as the institution’s ESG center of excellence, supporting clients in managing ESG risks and identifying opportunities.
**Job Summary:**
IFC seeks a detail-oriented and highly motivated Environmental and Social Analyst to support environmental and social specialists in reviewing environmental and social risks and impacts within client and potential client operations. This role offers invaluable experience in private sector ESG risk management in emerging markets, working alongside leading experts, and exposure to the broader World Bank Group.
**Responsibilities:**
* Support analysis of environmental and social risks and impacts associated with IFC investments, ensuring alignment with IFC’s Performance Standards (PSs) on Environmental and Social Sustainability.
* Assist in defining compliance measures with PSs and World Bank Group Environmental, Health, and Safety Guidelines.
* Supervise client companies’ environmental and social performance through report reviews and site visits.
* Deliver training on environmental and social issues to IFC clients, investment staff, and specialists.
* Contribute to sectoral and regional portfolio reviews, identifying systematic compliance issues.
* Collect and analyze data for reports on specific E&S issues and IFC’s portfolio.
**Qualifications:**
* Bachelor’s degree in environmental management/science, social science, engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum three years of relevant experience in environmental and/or social assessment within private sector business activities (agribusiness, infrastructure, manufacturing preferred).
* Proven ability to work with private sector firms, identifying environmental/social risks, developing mitigation measures, and ensuring compliance with good international industry practice.
* Knowledge of the IFC Sustainability Framework, Guidance Notes, EHS Guidelines, and other IFC sustainability publications is a plus.
* Strong research, analytical, and strategic thinking skills; meticulous attention to detail.
* Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, adapt to change, and meet deadlines.
* Fluent written and spoken English is essential; additional languages are beneficial.
* Strong writing, presentation, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills.
* Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including to remote locations.
* Team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively within multi-disciplinary and multicultural teams.
* Familiarity with IFC/World Bank operations, procedures, and culture is advantageous.
