Position Overview:

The Events Lead (India) is responsible for overseeing all Room to Read events within India and for working closely with the India Regional Board on events strategy and execution. The Events Lead is also responsible for working with the Development Director (South Asia), Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team and other Room to Read departments as required to deliver fundraising, pipeline-generation, community-building, and thought leadership events within the region. The Events Lead will work with key stakeholders to support and guide the development of event strategies, and ultimately to execute events that deliver against their intended objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

India Event Strategy (30%)

  • Support the Development Director (South Asia) and the India Regional Board to plan over-arching market event strategy to align with revenue, brand-building, and thought leadership objectives.
  • Attend India Regional Board meetings and present event strategies for feedback, input and guidance from India Regional Board members. Work closely with India Board Chair to outline event vision and goals and develop a plan for annual galas and other events.
  • Manage the India event budgets.
  • Complete strategy documents for all events and work with DevCom Senior Leadership Team (SLT) for inputs and approvals.
  • Conduct debriefs for each event and analyze data to evaluate return on investment (ROI), successes, and areas for improvement. Make recommendations to the relevant stakeholder(s) and SLT.
  • Build sponsorship and auction strategy for India events and conduct outreach to prospective/existing sponsors and manage ongoing relationships. 

India Event Execution (70%)

  • Manage and customize all India event collateral including event invitations, webpage, program, backdrop, etc.
  • Oversee and execute all logistical elements of India events including: invitation/RSVP tracking, venue selection, catering, entertainment, AV, run-of-show, etc.
  • Manage corporate sponsor and auction sponsor relationships for events as relevant.
  • Work with the relevant team members across the department to coordinate other key event components such as gift processing, speech-writing, stakeholder engagement. Act as the coordinator for all event components, managing deliverables and deadlines.
  • Work with Brand and PR team on entertainment/celebrity/influencer participation in events, supporting any event needs (AV, rider, etc.) and helping to maximize PR outcomes of each event. 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years working in event planning and execution
  • Experience managing corporate event sponsors and working with VIP speakers/stakeholders
    Project management experience
  • Good communicator able to articulate clear direction to a variety of different skills/personalities
  • Cultural knowledge of different fundraising markets
  • Attention to detail balanced with strong imagination and conceptual ability
  • Creativity and passion for generating new ideas
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage projects/programs
  • Polished verbal, written and presentation skills and keen attention to detail
  • Proficiency using technology and a wide variety of software applications to include Microsoft Office Suite
