Job Description
WWF-India is setting up a Climate Change Hub – an initiative aimed at integrating and main streaming climate in its programmatic work across biodiversity conservation and ecological footprint pillars. The Climate Hub is envisioned to be a “think tank” with a strong focus on connecting nature conservation and climate change. The Hub will work with key external stakeholders and institutions (both national and global), that are active in research, implementation, financing low-carbon development, policy development, energy transition and climate adaptation. The Climate Hub will also implement ongoing projects like the One Planet City Challenge — a global platform for cities to showcase climate action; Climate Solver — a global initiative to support the development and scale up of innovative low-carbon technologies and will also support the work on energy transition and nature based solutions being implemented by other programs.
We are looking for an Expert for the Climate Hub. The position will be part of the thought leadership group in WWF-India, responsible for shaping the organisation’s work on climate change in the next decade. This position will work closely with high-impact cross-cutting teams — both within India and across the WWF network — working on conserving terrestrial, freshwater and marine species and their habitats; local community resilience, sustainable and regenerative agriculture, sustainable business and finance.
Job Description:
Contribute to the programme of WWF-India’s Climate Hub.
- Lead research and technical analysis related to climate change adaptation, Nature-based Solutions (NbS), energy transition, low carbon development etc.
- Develop policy briefs and technical articles related to various aspects related to the work undertaken by the Climate Hub.
- Support implementation of strategies for integrating climate change adaptation actions in WWF-India’s biodiversity conservation & footprint reduction work.
- Contribute to WWF-India’s ongoing projects/activities for improved climate mitigation and adaptation across various landscapes, riverscapes and seascapes.
- Support WWF-India’s field teams to integrate climate aspects in the implementation of place-based activities.
- Liaise between field offices and the WWF-India Secretariat on various climate change adaptation and mitigation initiatives; build relationships with external stakeholders.
- Organize workshops/meetings, preparing background documents and other communication materials for wider dissemination and outreach.
- Responsible for preparing technical and financial reports in line with donor requirements
Requirements
Qualifications, Experience and competencies required:
- Master’s Degree in Climate Change/ Environmental Science/Natural Resource Management/Forestry/ Natural Sciences or related disciplines, from a recognized university;
- Minimum 5 years of relevant, post-qualification, professional experience in the area of climate change adaptation/resilience/mitigation or allied fields..
- Knowledge and proven experience in proposal development and technical report writing shall be an added advantage.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Strong research and analytical skills. Prior involvement in research-based projects and assessments is expected.
- Proven experience in policy advocacy work will be an added advantage.
- Good communication, project execution & planning skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and team skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- Ability to multi-task, think strategically and display a strong result-oriented approach.
- Full familiarity with relevant computer applications (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, any other modelling tools and applications, GIS, etc.)
