The space is located at the south-west edge of Bangalore, in Kengeri  near the Kambipura lake, and is neighbours to several educational institutions, a vibrant community of practitioners across sectors and the local Doddabele community.

About the role

Property Operations & Maintenance

  • Serve as the single point of contact for any facilities-related operations.
  • Develop and Implement building procedures and performance measures, promoting best practices and developing better processes.
  • Take charge of all activities like parking, security, facility upkeep, waste disposal, etc.
  • Manage the space allocation and usage system within the facility.
  • Take charge of the space’s budget, accounting and financial operations.
  • Encouraging adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Supervise all staff facilities staff (custodians, technicians, groundskeepers etc.) and external contractors.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure that they comply with the procurement processes and deliver quality work.
  • Handle insurance plans and service contracts
  • Plan and coordinate all installations (telecommunications, heat, electricity etc.) and refurbishments
  • Work closely with the kitchen and maker space teams to ensure smooth coordination and operations.
  • Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards
  • Inspect buildings structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations
  • Review utilities consumption and strive to minimise costs

Ensuring Sustainability

The role is to plan and execute operations in such a way that the learning observatory is maintained and sustained as a green building.

Some goals of the building the the facilities manager would have to oversee are as follows  –

  • Aspiration – be a carbon neutral building, which would include management of services for electricity, water, waste and plantation.
  • Coordinate with BESCOM and keep track of energy consumption
  • Manage water consumption, share data on usage, find ways/technology to reduce water wastage in the building.
  • Manage waste management systems, and work closely with the people team to change behaviour around waste management.
  • Ensure sustainability mindset in procurement of materials and equipment for the observatory. Eg. soaps, machines, paper etc.

Event Management

  • Assist in managing Organization events, including venue selection, vendor coordination, and transportation arrangements.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment, materials, and supplies are available for events.
  • Be present during events to provide on-site support, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate event activities.
  • Maintain databases and records related to event planning and execution.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Candidates from hospitality / facilities management background are preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong email and calendaring skills
  • Prior work experience of event management
  • Experience in managing budgets and accounts for facilities.
  • Excellent administrative, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment (including prioritisation skills, flexibility toward change, sense of urgency, and dealing with ambiguity)
  • Strong attention to detail, can-do attitude, and ownership mindset
  • Eagerness to learn, collaborate, and share knowledge and experiences across regions and teams
