Position Summary
The Field Manager will work on coordinating and conducting monitoring and evaluation studies for different projects across states and sectors. As projects will involve working with government departments engaged in frontline service delivery (health, education, etc.), the work will include management of field-level implementation and on ground coordination. The Field Manager will report to the Outcome Measurement vertical lead and significantly contribute to monitoring and evaluation aspects of the project(s).
Role and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and conduct monitoring and evaluation (M&E) studies for different projects, with support from the respective project teams
- Identify local partners and vendors who would provide field support and support the contracting process
- Manage day-to-day implementation and oversight of field staff
- Ensure adherence to data quality protocols, including auditing enumerators, monitoring data collection, conducting data quality audits, and timely completion of field work
- Ensure project data is stored in adherence to data management and security protocols
- Consult with client-side stakeholders and frontline workers for on ground coordination
- Understand and manage execution of the project M&E plan
- Develop a sound understanding of the client (Government)’s issues and understand the relevance of the interventions (project) to these issues
Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
- A postgraduate degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, Engineering, or related fields from a reputed institution
- At least 8-10 years of experience in managing field work of large-scale primary surveys across multiple Indian states. Experience in the health and nutrition sectors is preferred
- Experience in primary data collection using qualitative and quantitative methods
Personal Characteristics and Desired Qualities
- Fluency in English is required and knowing multiple local languages is preferred
- Willingness to travel extensively to project areas in Assam, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate and actively listen to others, understanding, and valuing others’ views
- Stakeholder management skills and ability to work with large and diverse teams
- Ability to be able to set priorities, plan timelines, and meet deadlines
- Ability to think creatively, willing to take risks to experiment with new ideas, and ability to turn ideas into action
- Operating style suited to working independently and in a small-organization setting where teamwork and resourcefulness are highly valued
Location and Compensation
Location: New Delhi, Chennai, or Hyderabad
Remuneration will be competitive with Indian philanthropy and social sector pay scales and will depend on the candidate’s experience levels.
The successful candidate will be hired on a contractual basis for 1 year, with possibility of extension.
