Currently, the India office is implementing a project focused on strengthening women’s leadership in economic, social, and political spheres across several Indian states.
**Job Description:**
The Finance Analyst will report to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for coordinating the financial planning, analysis, and provision of services to the India Country Office. This includes supporting cost-saving strategies, verifying financial transactions, coordinating with UN Women headquarters, analyzing financial resources, monitoring cash management, assisting with financial risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with UN Women rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. The role also involves supporting financial reporting, the audit process, programme/project budgets, financial training and communication, and providing financial administrative support. The Finance Analyst will supervise one Finance Assistant.
**Responsibilities:** The Finance Analyst will perform a wide range of duties including but not limited to: financial planning and analysis, budget monitoring and control, financial reporting (including IPSAS compliance), risk assessment, audit support, donor reporting, and providing financial support to programs and projects. They will also contribute to capacity building and knowledge management within the office.
**Experience Required:**
* Minimum 1 year of experience in an accounting-specific role within a large international organization, preferably in the UN system.
* Demonstrated financial experience using an ERP financial system.
* Demonstrated experience in providing financial and budget support to programmes/projects.
* Demonstrated knowledge of IPSAS/IFRS.
* Experience in the usage of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
* Experience working on development projects is desirable.
* Experience supporting more than one office simultaneously is desirable.
* Experience in a regional or multi-country context is desirable.
* Experience using a modern web-based management system is desirable.
**Education:**
Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance/Accounting or a professional accounting qualification from an internationally recognized institute of accountancy (e.g., Chartered Accountant or certified Public Accountant).
**Language Requirements:**
Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Hindi is desirable. Knowledge of French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish is also desirable.
**Contract Duration:** One year (renewable based on funding availability)
