We link the government system with parents and communities, using technology, media and social influence techniques. Rocket Learning is partnering at scale with state governments and IAS officers in Maharashtra, Haryana, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi and UP to impact 500,000+ children in 40,000+ schools and anganwadis. The average child in a Rocket Learning cohort attains skills at the top 30 percent of a non RL class, and the model is the subject of an ongoing RCT by MIT-JPAL.

Established by an experienced founding group and Board, Rocket Learning is anchored by Central Square Foundation, and partners/ funded by India’s Ministry of Education, MIT-JPAL, MIT Solve, Harvard University, Fast Forward, Microsoft, World Economic Forum – Deloitte, Accel Partners, Amazon and HP. 

Role Specifics

We are currently looking for a Fundraising and Partnerships Manager to work directly with the Founders in a senior role. The candidate will be expected to establish, grow and lead partnerships with key investors and stakeholders at a state, national and global level. Rocket Learning has 30+ important partners and an annual budget of Rs. 10 Cr+, which we expect to double in the next 12 months – this growth will be spearheaded by the candidate, reporting to the Founders.

The role would involve:-

• Leading the investor partnerships value chain (ranging across developing specific initiatives with different investors, monitoring implementation, conducting analysis and preparing reports to manage relationships with the investors)

• Developing strategic partnerships and collaborations with governments and innovative organizations in the education space to develop cutting edge solutions

• Managing relationships and communications with Board members and advisors, impact funds, foundations, HNIs and CSR organizations

• Researching on investors and understanding critical requirements for each investor

• Representing Rocket Learning at national and international events and symposia to create greater visibility and a partnerships and advocacy pipeline

• Designing and conducting investor events to develop relationships (financial, knowledge sharing, etc) with new partners and leverage the national focus on foundational skills

• Any other activities required to generate funds and develop partnerships to enable exponential expansion of RocketLearning

The investments already in place that the candidate would help manage include the Central Square Foundation, ACT Grants, the Harvard University Impact Fellowship Fund, MIT Solve, World Economic Forum, Google.org, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Deloitte, Amazon, Capgemini, the Godrej Foundation, The Yuj Foundation, Eight Roads Ventures, Accel Partners, N/Core, Fast Forward and the DRK Foundation. Non-financial partners include some of the best organizations across India and the world, including UNICEF, The Language and Learning Foundation, Khan Academy, Samagra Governance, Tic Tac Learn, Brookings, the Akanksha Foundation, MIT-JPAL and NCERT.

Required skills and background

• Candidates interested in social enterprises as a means of creating impact, and wishing to learn how to run and scale such organizations

• Candidates with strong English communication skills and expertise in Powerpoint and Excel (or willingness to learn rapidly)

• Education qualification: Minimum graduate with 1-4 years of work experience

• Willingness to travel to different locations across India, as required

• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks in an entrepreneurial environment

• Ability to take leadership in ambiguous situations, even when unsupervised
