About STRIE

STRIE spearheads of our efforts of addressing the challenges that exist in improving livelihoods for women. STRIE’s framework will encompass both direct action through grants and accelerators as well ecosystems work through advocacy and stakeholder engagement. This will translate into three separate but interlocked streams within the STRIE architecture 

  • Research Action Lab – this team will be staffed with a team of 2-3 researchers and focus on building research backed, evidence based framework for advocacy on all aspects that sit at the intersectionality of gender and livelihoods. The team will be responsible for engaging stakeholders across the spectrum, government, corporates, civil society and individuals to build alignment and orchestrate change and build a more enabling ecosystem for gender/livelihoods. 
  • Grand Challenge – the format of the grand challenge is using a substantive prize amount to incentivize individuals, teams and companies to deploy resources and talent to address difficult challenges that sit at this intersectionality. The team will be responsible for identifying the themes for the grand challenge, raising funding for this challenge along with the fund raising team of The/Nudge Institute and running the Grand Challenge on an annual basis
  • Accelerator – a key aspect of STRIE’s approach is to identify and accelerate social enterprises and nonprofits that are furthering the cause of livelihoods for women. The STRIE team will be responsible for scaling up of these organizations by building capabilities/capacity and enabling access to capital pools through both debt/equity financing.

Role

In this role, you will be responsible for setting up STRIE from scratch which will include

  • Articulating the strategy for STRIE and communicating this powerfully to different stakeholders such that STRIE achieves a pre-eminent position in the ecosystem 
  • Lead the acquisition of human resources for the STRIE centre and build a high performing team across all the three verticals
  • Works closely with Nudge to create new & sustainable funding ecosystems to support STRIE
  • Manage the day to day functioning of STRIE in all aspects 
  • Build advocacy with government, industry and civil society and other agencies working in the genderXlivelihoods areas to create an enabling environment for women in the workforce
  • Set up and lead the Gender Action Lab to influence public policy in livelihood-related areas to become gender-sensitive, and drive multi-stakeholder initiatives for transformative outcomes
  • Create a nurturing environment for social enterprises creating economic opportunities for women through entrepreneurship, skills development and social inclusion
  • Lead the thinking and execution of high-visibility research, convenings and dissemination of notable insights on women’s’ economic empowerment and 
  • Collaborate with other program teams at The/Nudge to drive initiatives like grand challenges, social entrepreneurship etc to achieve STRIE’s overall objectives

Requirements

  • High-energy woman leader with career record of notable achievement in any sector and strong general management expertise
  • 20+ yrs of overall experience with ideally experience in setting up new teams/start ups
  • Strong leadership experience of managing high-performance teams
  • Strong social sector intent, and readiness to serve

Good-to-have

  • 5+ years in policy advocacy, research or gender studies
  • prior experience working at a gender think tank or action lab
  • prior similar experience of building an impactful ecosystem initiative
  • strong public presence as a thought leader; as author, speaker or columnist
