Context:

Mindspark is an award-winning EdTech product focused on adaptive learning. It is used by 150K+ private schools across India and the Middle East, and is also used by non-profits, CSR and Govt. schools across 10+ States in India. 4 independent impact studies have shown that Mindspark causes dramatic improvement in student learning outcomes. Ei provides learning and assessment solutions to different customer segments – from the top private schools in cities like Dubai, Mumbai, Delhi (e.g. schools like Vasant Valley, DPS R K Puram, Mothers International, etc.) to CSR/non-profits and Govt. schools (e.g. in remotest areas in India and the slums of Dantewada). The Shiksha division at Ei primarily works with the Govt., non-profits, CSR and philanthropy. We are looking for a Head of Operations, who shall help us realize Ei-Shiksha’s vision of taking Mindspark to all low-income students across India.

Position Summary:

The below list is not exhaustive but illustrates the scope of responsibilities and provides insight into other tasks that may be required or assigned as per need. The responsibilities are supported by existing critical employees who will report into you.

• Formulate business and operational strategy in alignment with Ei’s Mission, Vision and Goals • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives

• Draw on relationships with external partners, and vendors to make decisions regarding operational activity and strategic goals

• Devise strategies for ensuring the growth of programs and implement process improvements to maximize output and minimize costs

• Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks

• Drive and lead performance reviews, to ensure an engaged and skilled workforce.

• Collaborate with leadership to build an environment of collective responsibility and accountability • Evaluate risk and lead quality assurance efforts

• Oversee expenses and budgeting to help the organization optimize costs and benefits

• Mentor and motivate teams to achieve productivity and engagement

• Report on operational performance and suggest improvements

• Work closely with HR to lead the team with integrity and to establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment

Primary metrics for measuring success would be ensuring value creation on the last mile for partners and schools, team building and training, getting govt. buy in, usage, # of users, revenue sourcing, payment collections & maintaining profitability/sustainability of the project.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in business administration/Social Sciences or related field
  • 10+ years in a senior leadership role in relevant field
  • Demonstrated aptitude for critical decision making with an ability to bring strategic, operational, and financial perspectives to functional teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, customer service, and employee management
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational process for maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Proven record in implementing large scale, complex program design, delivery and operations management
  • Ability to streamline or implement new structures and roles that boost speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting business demands
  • Familiarity with all business functions including HR, finance, supply chain and IT.
