**About India Climate Collaborative (ICC)**

 

The India Climate Collaborative (ICC) is a non-profit organization established in 2020 to drive climate action through philanthropy in India. We work with Indian philanthropists, including corporations and families, to unlock philanthropic capital, identify key climate priorities, and build a robust infrastructure to support their efforts. ICC was founded by prominent Indian leaders in business and philanthropy, such as Rohini Nilekani, Ratan Tata, Anand Mahindra, and Nadir Godrej.

 

**The Role**

 

The India Climate Leaders (ICL) program, a key initiative of ICC, aims to cultivate and empower climate leaders among high-net-worth individuals in India. This program is crucial for aligning with India’s ambitious climate mitigation targets, development priorities, and advocating for accelerated climate funding and integrated action.

 

As the Head of ICL, you will play a pivotal role in engaging with philanthropists and business leaders to cultivate India’s pioneering climate philanthropic leaders and help them move to action and giving at scale. This involves:

 

* **Identifying and engaging with ultra-high-net-worth philanthropists** to build a strong foundation for climate action.

* **Developing long-term strategic goals** for the ICL program.

* **Identifying and building appropriate knowledge products and public goods** for the climate donor ecosystem in India.

* **Creating giving opportunities** aligned with domestic donor priorities, based on work by CSO partners and ICC’s Sectors team.

* **Managing donor relationships** and fostering strong connections.

* **Engaging experienced climate donors globally** to interact with Indian families.

* **Leading and mentoring the ICL team.**

 

**Key Outcomes**

 

The Head of ICL will be responsible for driving a set of clear outcomes, including:

 

* **Climate Philanthropist Engagement:**

    * Building a strong pipeline of climate philanthropists with annual and long-term goals for money moved in India for Indian solutions.

    * Securing significant funding commitments towards climate action.

    * Implementing a clear engagement strategy with defined goals and targets.

* **Climate Solutions Pipeline:**

    * Developing a list of ready-to-fund opportunities through partnerships with civil society organizations and global and national networks.

    * Establishing a clear process for due diligence and identifying new opportunities.

    * Effectively translating this work for new entrants to the climate philanthropy space.

* **Expanded Ecosystem:**

    * Establishing or expanding partnerships with international and domestic organizations to scale the number and amount of Indian families giving to climate impact.

    * Facilitating the exchange of insights between climate leaders and philanthropists across other global south markets.

* **Program Operations:**

    * Collaborating with peers to set and influence ICC’s overall strategy, direction, and growth.

    * Strengthening ICC’s position as an ecosystem enabler body for climate action in India.

 

**Skills and Experience**

 

* Minimum of fifteen years of fundraising and/or equivalent donor advising experience.

* Proven success in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding eight-figure gifts from philanthropists, especially ultra-high-net-worth donors.

* Strong project planning skills, ability to define workstreams, and manage multiple timelines and deadlines.

* Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with convening capabilities.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a persuasive and attentive approach.

* Proven ability to lead, engage, and collaborate with diverse staff and partners.

* Experience managing team members inclusively and supportively, with coaching and development skills.

* Good working knowledge of climate change; past climate experience is advantageous.

* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

* Demonstrated agility and adaptability in entrepreneurial, ambiguous, or changing environments.

* A Master’s degree is preferred.
