**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly experienced professional to lead the Risk and Compliance function within our United Kingdom office. The Head of Risk and Compliance will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust risk management frameworks, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and fostering a culture of integrity and accountability across the organization.

 

 

**Key Responsibilities:**

 

1. **Risk Management Oversight:**

   – Develop and implement comprehensive risk management strategies to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor risks associated with OPM’s operations.

   – Lead the identification of emerging risks and ensure that appropriate controls are in place to manage them effectively.

 

2. **Compliance Leadership:**

   – Ensure full compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing our operations.

   – Develop and maintain policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements and best practices.

   – Lead the training of staff on compliance matters to ensure ongoing awareness and adherence.

 

3. **Internal Controls and Audits:**

   – Oversee internal audit processes to evaluate the effectiveness of risk management controls.

   – Collaborate with external auditors to address any findings or recommendations resulting from audits.

   – Ensure that all financial, operational, and regulatory reporting requirements are met accurately and timely.

 

4. **Stakeholder Engagement:**

   – Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, clients, and internal teams, to ensure effective communication of risk and compliance matters.

   – Represent OPM in relevant industry forums and committees to stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices.

 

5. **Strategic Planning:**

   – Contribute to the development of strategic plans that incorporate risk management and compliance considerations.

   – Ensure that risk assessments inform decision-making processes across all departments.

 

6. **Team Management:**

   – Lead a team of Risk and Compliance professionals, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.

   – Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the department to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

 

 

**Experience Required:**

 

– **Minimum 10 years’ experience in risk management and compliance roles within a professional services or consulting environment.**

– **Proven track record of leading large-scale risk assessment and mitigation initiatives.**

– **Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to the policy research and advisory sector, including data protection laws (e.g., GDPR).**

– **Strong leadership skills with experience in managing cross-functional teams.**

– **Excellent communication and negotiation abilities to engage with senior management and external stakeholders.**

– **Certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), or similar qualifications are highly desirable.**

As the Head of Risk and Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping OPM’s risk landscape and ensuring that our operations remain resilient to potential challenges. You will work closely with various departments to integrate risk management practices seamlessly into daily operations, while also representing OPM in external engagements related to compliance and regulatory matters.

 

 

**Requirements:**

 

– **Educational Qualifications:** Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Law, or Risk Management; advanced degrees are preferred.

– **Professional Certifications:** CFA, CPA, CIA, CRM, or other relevant certifications.

– **Technical Skills:** Proficiency in risk assessment tools and methodologies, regulatory compliance software, and data analysis platforms.

– **Language Proficiency:** Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of additional languages may be advantageous.
