Position Summary
To advance Teach For All’s 25-year vision and intended outcomes, we are seeking a Head of Strategic Communications to drive our work to share our stories, insights, and impact with our audiences. You will ensure that our messages reach our network, our supporters, and influence the global discussion on issues relating to our network’s core purpose. You will engage with the media, global conferences, and Teach For All network partners to ensure that diverse voices are elevated and stories of our collective impact are shared widely. This role is part of the Public Affairs team and reports to the Global Head of Communications and Public Affairs and you will work closely with the CEO, heads of regions, program teams, and network partners.
About The Team
The Public Affairs team works to influence the global discussion in order to create an external environment conducive to the achievement of Teach For All’s vision. We are a fast-paced team that works to build a proactive narrative and brand that highlights our core purpose and the impact of our global network, creates a clear understanding of how our network is structured, and raises the profile of our network partners.
As the Head of Strategic Communications at Teach For All, you will engage in the following and/or similar activities:
- Develop and manage a global communications strategy to build a proactive narrative and share stories and insights about the impact of the Teach For All network
- Partner with global and regional teams, and the CEO and Chief Network Officer in particular, to develop communications strategies that will elevate insights generated through their work to our audiences
- Cultivate and train a diverse group of spokespeople from across our network—including students, teachers, alumni, and staff—to speak and write about their work publicly, and secure opportunities for them to do so
- Ensure that content created by the Public Affairs team is effectively leveraged and reaches our audiences
- Secure and manage strong relationships to increase our presence in global media and international forums
- Contribute to building a strong network culture through communications and engagement with network partners
- Manage crisis communications efforts and support network partners on their media relations, amplification of insights and crisis response
- Manage engagement with Teach For All’s Global Ambassadors (well-known individuals who champion our work publicly)
- Contribute to the global community of communications staff to enable collaboration around shared objectives
As the ideal candidate, you will bring:
- Seven years of relevant working experience
- Prior experience as a staff or alumni member of Teach For All’s network partners
- Exceptional strategic thinking and communications skills
- Ability to build strong relationships, influence and inspire multiple stakeholders from a range of cultures
- Entrepreneurial approach to generating opportunities and high degree of internal drive towards achieving your objectives
- Sensitivity to diversity in backgrounds and beliefs (e.g., racial, cultural, socioeconomic, political, etc.)
- Deeply committed to the mission, vision and values of Teach For All
Additional desirable skills/experiences (not required):
- Prior communications experience (including working with the media, securing speaking engagements at events, and developing communications strategies) a distinct advantage—though candidates who have related experience (e.g. fundraising, preparing public events) will also be considered for this role
- Familiarity with specific aspects of communications work, even if through personal rather than professional experience – e.g. social media, press, blogging, public speaking, events
- Deep and broad understanding of Teach For All’s mission and programmatic approach
- Experience working in an international environment

Compensation
Salary for this position is competitive and dependent on country of hire and prior work experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Work authorization
Please note, this position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. All candidates must possess permanent local work authorization/permit in order to be considered.
Travel and Hours
All work is delivered virtually. Up to 10% travel may be required. Given that we work across different time zones, some non-traditional hours for early or later calls are an expectation of this role.
