Overview
iTeach Schools runs free and high-impact secondary schools and a college-to-career program for the most disadvantaged students of Pune and PCMC. Like many Indian cities, both of these public education systems only go up to Grade VII, leading to the poorest students being unable to finish their schooling. In 2023, with a staff of 250 members across nine schools, we will serve 2800 students and 2000+ alumni – giving students a fighting chance at college, career, and citizenship. We aim to grow to 30 schools and 10,000 students over the next five years.
Responsibilities
iTeach’s founding belief is “first who, then what”, – which means that we put all our bets on our people – making this role vastly important to the organisation and the student’s success. The HR Associate Manager will work closely with the HR Head, with a three-pronged approach – designing all organisation initiatives to create a fantastic staff member experience, owning the policies, processes, and systems to ensure the smooth and productive functioning of the organisation and building capacity in the organisation for effective people management.
I. Policies, systems, and processes
- Refine & implement existing HR, POSH, Child Protection, and other related policies, to keep them 100% applicable, relevant, contextual, and up to date.
- Review and improve tools used for HR functions (leave tracking, punctuality, payroll, etc) to have a great user experience, reviewer ease as well as powerful analytics.
- Study trends across the teams and recommend shifts in policies and systems.
II. Employee Engagement and Well-being
- Design and execute different programs for employee well-being.
- Measure staff engagement using tools such as Great Place to Work and Gallup Q12.
- Review benefits provided to staff members and conduct Cost-Benefit, benchmarking analysis.
III. People Experience
- Design and execute (with help from HR Associate and other staff) org initiatives to ensure an empowering experience for all staff.
- This involves initiatives for welcoming people, keeping inspiration high, communicating to staff, listening to staff, performance management, celebration, staff development, grievance redressal, collaboration, and other such areas.
IV. Capacity Building
- Work with other managers to solve cases of underperformance, code of conduct, long leaves, etc.
- Design and create training for various HR-related compliances like CPP, Onboarding, and orientation in the organisation.
Experience and Competencies
- Required: Bachelor’s degree with strong performance
- Required: 4+ years of work experience overall, with 2 + years in HR
- Preferred: Experience managing a team
- Preferred: Experience in a school system/education organisation
Location: Pune
Salary– Salary is decided based on the candidate’s education and work experience. Our usual compensation for this role lies between 6 Lakh Per Annum – 7.5 Lakh Per Annum. We also take pride in providing the best of industry benefits such as PF, Gratuity, Medical Insurance etc.
