**Project Overview:**  This role is within the Project Management Unit for Technical Support and Implementation of Comprehensive Disaster Planning, Mitigation, Management and Response for the Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation Department, Government of Maharashtra.

 

**Role Overview:** The IEC and Communications Consultant will be responsible for end-to-end communication and knowledge management for this Disaster Management Project.  This is an opportunity to create groundbreaking communication and awareness campaign programs for a first-of-its-kind DM program in India, with significant scope for innovation, scale, and replication.

 

**Responsibilities:**

 

* Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy across all project interventions in English and Marathi.

* Create various communication materials, including articles, case studies, blogs, reports, informative creatives, and presentations.

* Translate complex project information into accessible narratives for diverse audiences.

* Collaborate with project teams to gather information and disseminate it effectively via social media and other channels.

* Conduct fieldwork at the district level to collect data, photographs, and impact statistics.

* Manage external branding and positioning of the project in collaboration with Palladium’s PR agency.

* Identify end-beneficiary needs and design appropriate communication techniques to reach them.

* Coordinate with the R&R Department on all communication aspects.

* Manage digital, social, and print media for the Department (as needed).

* Oversee promotion and outreach programs.

* Handle grievance redressal and knowledge management.

* Manage public relations activities, including press releases and media handling.

* Monitor and manage all external communication on behalf of the Department.

* Approve all Department-related content before publication.

* Coordinate with stakeholders for content generation.

* Manage website and social media content.

* Create text, web, and digital media content, including polls and surveys.

* Manage end-to-end knowledge management, including data collection, compilation, organization, and storage.

 

 

**Qualifications and Experience Required:**

 

* Post-graduate University Degree in journalism, communication, or a related field.

* Minimum 5 years of experience managing knowledge management and communication for similar transformation programs.

* Preferred experience in branding, communication, and outreach related to public services/social impact and the development sector.

* Experience/knowledge of website and social media technologies and applications.

* Excellent writing and synthesis skills for diverse audiences.

* Fluency in Marathi is mandatory.
