Purpose
CEEW’s Industrial Sustainability and Competitiveness team has two programs to support innovation: Ideator and Enterprise promotion. The ideator program focuses on idea stage solutions to the most pressing societal problems. Ideator team works with experts, governing bodies, civil society organizations, and industries to form detailed problem statements which then invite solutions from individuals, startups, and other organizations. These solutions are pursued in a collaborative manner and support related to prototyping, user testing, and demonstrations is provided by CEEW. Our enterprise promotion program works with startups who have a novel technology and is looking for improving their product or find new use cases for their solutions while solving for SDGs.
CEEW seeks to hire a Research Analyst/Programme Associate with exceptional project management and community management skills to join the Industrial Sustainability and Competitiveness team. The role will be crucial to facilitate the process of product ideation, fabrication, assessment, and deployment of ideas coming from our ideator program as well as supporting our promoted startups with this expertise.
The role leverages recommendations from a vast range of research that CEEW undertakes for government policies and vision documents to benefit industry, civil society, media, and the public at large. The candidate will get exposure to the inner workings of one of India’s leading climate think tanks and will have the opportunity to run experimental production of novel ideas.
The candidate must have experience in conceptualizing and designing solutions based on learnings from sectoral researchers. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work across teams and manage multiple priorities and should be detail-oriented and committed to adhering to timelines.
Job duties and accountabilities
Design and Fabrication
- Work with selected innovation fellows and startups to aid in designing solutions
- Network and form a consortia of makerspaces, fabrication vendors and community participation with tinkering labs, prototyping centres, innovation hubs and academic labs
- Assist in project management for innovation projects at CEEW
- Stay abreast with techniques and tools for small-scale production runs
- Manage Design-for-manufacturing projects for scaling up startup/novel solutions
Selection Criteria
Qualification
- Preferably Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Operations Engineering with experience in physical prototyping. M Des, Architects equally preferred.
- Demonstrated experience of conceptual design, CAD modelling, simulation and knowledge of manufacturing processes
Work experience
- 2-4 years’ experience of working in an engineering solutions company or project.
- Prior experience in conceptualizing, design, fabrication, user testing and refinement of products.
Key skills
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent eye for detail.
- Great communicators over emails, presentations and GIFs
- Creative thinker with demonstrated success in implementing out-of-the-box content ideas.
- Demonstrated abilities to manage multiple priorities, projects and internal/external resources in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
- Strong drive and initiative, a self-starter.
- The candidate should be willing to travel.
