Job Brief:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT Manager to lead and manage our organization’s IT systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background and experience, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills, and a passion for working with persons with disabilities.

An IT Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and maintenance of an organization’s information technology infrastructure. They manage a team of IT professionals and work closely with other departments to ensure the technology systems are aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives.

Overall, the IT Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring our organization is equipped with the technology and IT infrastructure necessary to provide high-quality services to persons with disabilities, ensuring that all systems are secure, reliable, and efficient. The ideal candidate should have the necessary technical expertise and leadership skills to manage our IT systems effectively and align them with our organizational goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization’s technology infrastructure, which includes ensuring the smooth functioning of hardware, software, network, cloud infrastructure, and other IT assets.
  • Ensure that all systems are secure, reliable, and efficient, and that they are aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Identify and implement new technology solutions to improve the organization’s productivity and efficiency.
  • Manage organization’s IT budget and ensure that all expenses are within budgetary guidelines and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their technology needs and provide solutions to meet those needs.
  • Manage relationships with external technology vendors and service providers. Negotiating contracts, and ensuring that vendors meet service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technology trends and assess their potential impact on the organization.
  • Ensure that all IT policies and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure the organization’s IT systems can recover from disruptions.
  • As an IT Manager you need to supervise a group of other IT specialists while managing high-level computer-related duties. Managing and mentoring the IT team, providing guidance, and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making activities related to the organization’s IT infrastructure.
  • Providing technical support to employees, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Ensuring that IT systems and data are secure, implementing security policies, and identifying and mitigating potential security risks.
  • Overseeing IT projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the requirements of stakeholders.
  • Assess the organization’s technology needs and recommend improvements to systems and processes.
  • Compiling and submitting reports on IT operations and performance to senior management or the board of directors. These reports may include information on key performance indicators (KPIs), budget performance, and project reports. Preparing and submitting quarterly and annual reports would be a key responsibility of the IT Manager.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Diploma in Information Technology or higher, BCA/MCA, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ITIL, CISSP or CISM.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT management.
  • Technical knowledge: The IT Manager should have a strong technical background and knowledge of hardware, software, and network infrastructure. This includes familiarity with various operating systems, programming languages, cloud computing and database management systems.
  • Project management: The IT Manager should be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. This includes the ability to create project plans, monitor progress, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Leadership: The IT Manager should have excellent leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and inspire a team of IT professionals. This includes providing guidance, training and support as needed.
  • Communication: The IT Manager should have excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders. This includes written and verbal communication skills.
  • Budget management: The IT Manager should be able to manage budgets effectively and allocate resources appropriately. This includes monitoring expenses, forecasting costs, and making cost- saving recommendations.
  • Problem-solving: The IT Manager should be able to identify problems and develop effective solutions. This includes troubleshooting technical issues and implementing process improvements.
  • Strategic thinking: The IT Manager should be able to align IT strategies with organizational goals and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Vendor Management: The IT Manager should have experience working with external vendors and service providers. This includes managing relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring service level agreements are met.
  • Data security and privacy: The IT Manager should have a thorough understanding of data security and privacy regulations, and be able to ensure compliance within the organization.
  • Hiring and training: The IT Manager should have experience in hiring, training, and mentoring IT staff. This includes creating job descriptions, conducting interviews, and providing ongoing training and support.
  • An IT Manager should have strong understanding of the business and industry in which the organization operates, as well as the ability to align IT strategies with overall business objectives.Passion to working with persons with disabilities and creating accessible technology solutions.

Required experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in information technology management.
  • Proven experience in managing technology infrastructure, networks, cloud computing and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-based technologies and services, including AWS and Azure.
  • Should have hand-on experience with Microsoft 365 suites.
  • Should have a strong technical background in areas such as networking, system administration, cloud concepts, cybersecurity, Apple’s ecosystem of devices and software development.
  • Should have experience managing a team of IT professionals, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Should have experience managing an IT budget, including forecasting, expense tracking, and cost optimization.
  • Should have experience working with external vendors and service providers to manage IT-related contracts and projects.
  • Should have experience managing IT-related projects from initiation to completion, including developing project plans, allocating resources, and monitoring progress.
