**Job Title:** Lead Climate Change & Governance
**Organization:** iFOREST – International Forum for Environment, Sustainability & Technology
**About iFOREST:** iFOREST is an independent, not-for-profit research and innovation organization established in 2019. Its mission is to identify, promote, and scale up solutions for pressing environment-development challenges, focusing on regional priorities to accelerate environmental actions at the sub-national level and improve national policies and plans. iFOREST leverages regional knowledge to inform national policy and plans and strengthen international collaboration.
**Job Location:** Noida, India
**Reporting to:** Programme Director, Just Transition & Climate
**Required Experience:** 8+ years of relevant work experience in climate governance, climate-related legislation and institutional frameworks, environmental policy research, and other related areas.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* **Research and Engagement:** Lead research initiatives on climate-related laws, policies, and institutions in India and other relevant regions; assess the effectiveness of current climate governance frameworks and identify gaps; develop recommendations for policy reform and institutional strengthening; guide the development of action plans for climate change at sub-national levels; create research documents (reports, policy papers, factsheets); design and manage an outreach strategy; build partnerships with government, industry, and other stakeholders; represent iFOREST in national and international forums.
* **Project and People Management:** Design comprehensive research plans; assign and monitor research tasks; mentor researchers and communications professionals; conduct performance reviews.
* **Strategy and Institutional Growth:** Contribute to the overall programme strategy; contribute to the preparation of concept notes and proposals; contribute to decisions ensuring organizational efficiency.
**Required Competencies:**
* Deep understanding of climate laws, policies, and governance structures, particularly in the Indian context.
* Strong analytical and research skills.
* Proven ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
* Leadership and team management capabilities.
* Willingness to travel.
**Desirable Competencies:**
* Experience working with international organizations, think tanks, or government bodies on climate governance issues.
**Qualifications:**
* **Primary Qualification:** Bachelor’s degree in Law, with a preferred advanced degree in law (focus on Environmental Law or Climate Law).
* **Additional Qualification:** Master’s degree in Public Policy, Environmental and Resource Policy, or a related discipline.
