A snapshot of what you will be working on at WOTR

You will be responsible for developing strategies, planning, and implementing different aspects of production and productivity improvement in farm allied (Agriculture and horticulture, Dairy, Poultry, Goatery, etc.) and non-farm activities. You will be accountable for all farm & and non-farm activities, skill development initiatives, capacity-building, training, demonstrations and monitoring economic improvement.

As Lead-Livelihoods you will:

  • Build strong relationships and further extension of project activities with relevant stakeholders.
  • Be responsible for developing Entrepreneurship; preparation of business plans, and sustainability plans; looking into the viability of enterprises and capacity building of all the human resources placed at the state level, regional level, cluster level, and field level
  • Ensure collection, updating, and validation of relevant database of the target population, as required to assess and measure the improvements in production aspects of targeted agriculture and allied commodities as well as developing the value chains of different commodities
  • Ensure that communities are trained on improved farming, dairy, and animal husbandry techniques. Assess the need and/ or scope for capacity building of targeted beneficiaries with respect to sustainable production
  • Ensure and record the adoption of improved production practices by the target group
  • Facilitate veterinary healthcare services (like preventive, treatment, breeding, extension services, dairy farm management, etc.) to goatery, poultry dairy, and allied livestock farmers.
  • Ensure that the agricultural potential in the region is assessed with the aim of improving the existing systems and Good Agriculture Practices for increased crop production and farm productivity.
  • Identify and design interventions that create new agri-allied business activities and enterprises
  • Develop technical training modules to support livelihoods and capacity-building activities for targeted communities
  • Identify and coordinate with Vocational Training Providers (VTP) placement agencies, recruiters, job fair organizers, industries, and government departments for skills development and job placement activities
  • Build up the capacity of state/regional teams on skill innovative sustainable livelihood community models
  • Monitor and direct the field team to execute the activities and achieve the targets
  • Support Project team in supervision, providing technical inputs and monitoring project performance
  • Support M & E in timely implementation of M&E strategy, communication strategy, training strategy, project guidelines and other standard procedures as desired
  • Identify and document best practices / innovative approaches / case studies
  • Prepare and Submit reports as per the requirement

Your Key desired skills are:

  • You demonstrate good interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills
  • You have In-depth knowledge of livelihoods, production aspects of livestock as well as agriculture commodities
  • You are excellent in time management
  • You are self-initiated and work independently as per the plan
  • You have the ability to work in a team
  • You are willing to support the team for relevant incidental work related to the job on ad hoc basis

Apply if you have:

  • Post Graduate degree in Agriculture, Animal husbandry, Rural Management from institute of repute.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in development field. Extensive experience in value chain of agri, dairy, poultry, goatery commodities, training and enterprise set up development skills.
  • Experience in liaison and linkages with vocational training providers and skill development agencies.
