The Program Lead plays a critical role in building program strategy and implementing the program strategy, including oversight of the team, operations, and financial management. The program leads the annual implementation planning and budgeting process as well as new strategic initiatives and special projects each year and drives the implementation of programs for the beneficiary, making sure to engage and achieve organisational goals.
The program lead will directly work with the management on deploying the organization’s strategy. The program lead also has an externally facing role in managing relationships with the government stakeholders & funder reporting with a heavy emphasis on team management, development and establishing standards of performance across all programs.
Key Responsibilities but not limited to
Strategic Planning & Management
- Accountable for overall program strategy
- Build 3 years strategy and execution plan aligned with the organisation mission 2025
- Build annual program implementation plan
- Build annual budget for the program execution and development
- Ensure effective and impactful execution of program on the ground
- Build strategic alignment with central and state government programs to achieve scale
Design and Development
- Accountable for end to end design and development of program
- Design and develop need based new programs/product for the children aligning with the mission
- Build effective and scalable approach to impact one million children by 2025
- Improve the quality and efficiency of existing programs to achieve meaningful impact at scale
- Build SOPs for smooth functioning of program
- Integrate tech-tools in program execution and monitoring
- Leverage data to understand the behaviour patterns of beneficiaries and stakeholders in order to improve their experience with the program
Operations Management
- Accountable for end to end project execution and management
- Ensure effective execution of program with the help of ground team and stakeholders
- Ensure smooth functioning of program in terms of people, process and resources
- Build strong relationships with government officials at all levels in order to achieve scale and partnerships
- Streamline the execution processes by leveraging tech tools and data
- Build strong M&E plan to evaluate progress and impact of the program
- Engaging and reporting to state/central level officials, compiling and communicating best practices for government engagement, and identifying opportunities for program integration, with the potential of growing scale and impact.
Team Support & Management
- Accountable for end to end team management and performance (Program Team)
- Manage and supervise program team members i.e full-time, part-time & consultants also other members directly or indirectly contributing to programs (external vendors)
- Participate in regular calls and meetings with the team, as well as 1:1 discussions with Regional Managers/Program Managers
- Responsible for team hiring, performance and development
- Support team/vertical with work in case of non availability/leave of team members
- Build capacity of team by design L&D plan
Other Work:
- In collaboration with Communications/FR team, support proposal development, providing insights and content, especially as related to program contexts when required.
- Collaborate with the Communications/Admin team to organise internal/external events highlighting aspects of program communication and outreach.
- Available and Pro-active across communication channels
- Lead the program with “Impact First” approach aligned with mission
- Support other verticals with program information when needed
- Build relationships with stakeholders for smooth functioning of program
- Visit program locations on quarterly basis to interact with stakeholders and understand the impact of program
Qualifications Required:
- Master’s degree in a related field of study, e.g., Management, education, social work, or related development sector
- A minimum of 08-10 years of related professional experience in the development field, with at least five years specifically on overseeing and managing programs in the field of ed-tech, and/or education programs.
- Experience working with civil society, multilateral institutions in the field of education and-or ed-tech
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Experience in delivering training program for team and senior officials as a lead trainer or technical coach and/or developing training materials
- Experience in program design and/or developing technical program content and curriculum preferred
- Ability and desire to travel on project locations
- Experience managing staff across different time zones
