About Indus Action
Indus Action has a mission to enable the disadvantaged to access legislated rights sustainably in India, with a vision of moving more than a million Indians out of poverty by 2030. We started working towards this vision by employing our model of intervention towards inclusive education under section 12 1 c of the Right to education (RTE) act. In the past one year, we have expanded our intervention to Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) under Nation Food Security Act and Building and Other Construction Workers Act (BoCW). You can read more about this evolution here.
In the six years of our intervention to improve the access and process of accessing private school seats under the RTE , we have supported 300,000 admissions. By saving ~1L in tuition fees, families save 12% of their annual income. We are able to deliver this impact at a marginal cost (Rs 350 per child). Our cost-effective model ensures the impact at 0.001% of the annual budget the government spends in implementing this policy.
Our interventions in PMMVY are directed towards improving the rate of entitlement delivery to 12 million+ eligible pregnant and lactating mothers annually. We have conducted Rapid M&E surveys, process tracing analysis and statewide tech solutions in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Telangana and Karnataka.
Under the BoCW Act, in partnership with the labor ministry in Delhi and Chhattisgarh, we have conducted research and ground surveys to work on process streamlining of the labour registration and entitlement access. We are in the process of enabling a portfolio of entitlements to ~5 million+ workers.
We are currently working in Delhi, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Raipur, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
