What are we solving for in the End Ultra Poverty program?

End Ultra Poverty (EUP) program is solving for households in ultra-poverty through a targeted, multi-faceted and sequenced model called the graduation approach which has demonstrated that ultra-poverty can be conquered. 

At The/Nudge we have been piloting this program for the past 3 years and are in the process of catalyzing propagation of the same. Our purpose is to contribute to ending ultra-poverty in India. EUP will:

  • continue to implement on its own to iterate the design for impact at scale
  • enable more NGOs to adopt technical and capacity-building support
  • enable govt to adopt by providing research, design, and implementation support
  • continue to generate data on ultra-poverty and evidence on graduation approach to nudge governments to adopt at scale
  • build technology solutions for NGOs and governments to adopt and implement at scale & with quality.

Position Overview: 

We are seeking a highly driven, curious individual who can combine the art of curriculum design with highest levels of empathy. Given that the program is designed to train the poorest of the poor in the country who have had significant generational challenges in terms of access to literacy, skilling or basic cognitive development; it’s critical for this individual to be driven by the cause of building content that can influence lives of millions.

Responsibilities

  • Researching and writing content in different formats (learner resources, short courses, training modules, refresher modules, video scripts, reports, assessments etc.) based on core learning design principles and andragogy for the poorest of the poor
  • Content review and editing: Fact-checking against credible sources, collecting information from papers, books and field staff
  • Educational material: Brainstorm on design of video, print material with the creative team
  • Analysing feedback from stakeholders and making necessary changes
  • Liaising with experts, consultants and internal stakeholders for content development and design and other support.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A graduate/ postgraduate degree in Social Sciences / Sustainability Studies / English/ Education / Communications.
  • A minimum experience of 2 years in writing and editing content.
  • Should be prepared to travel for short periods of time for field research.
  • Excellent English language skills.
  • A demonstrable ability to research and interpret scientific information on social issues and communicate on these themes.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint/Google slides). Excel – basics
  • Experience in developing educational modules and training materials, or teaching or conducting workshops on-ground/online is desirable. Understanding of pedagogy/andragogy will be an added bonus.
  • Experience in the Educational Technology/Instructional Design space may be an advantage.
  • A demonstrable ability to create content to suit a variety of audiences.
