Project Summary:

Quest Alliance is implementing a school adoption program in 12 Government schools in Hyderabad. This program envisions -‘To create a school atmosphere that values and actively uses the tools of computational thinking, enabling its stakeholders to take ownership to solution and solve their local issues sustainably.’

Role Overview : 

Since 2015, Quest Alliance has been actively working with Hyderabad Government Schools, dedicated to fostering 21st-century skills and a STEM mindset among students in grades 8 to 10. These programs have expanded to 22 districts across Telangana.

Currently, the programme is shifting towards a Depth Approach, which aims to foster Computational thinking and a stem mindset that deepens student learning with problem-solving through  CT Clubs and strengthens educators and Communities by building a vision for the school and its culture.

The Learning Experience assistant plays a vital role in the functioning of CT clubs and the facilitating of the curriculum, Building Relationships with all the school stakeholders. Closely working with the content officer and tech associate. The School Coach adheres to all the implementation processes and timelines shared by the program team. 

The  Learning Experience assistant will be responsible for the facilitation in schools along with coordinating the volunteering events. Collect the required data as per the project need and ensure all the monitoring data is coming on time and support in the monthly and quarterly report preparation.

The  Learning Experience assistant will be responsible for the relationship-building at the school level as well as support any Teacher Training which is organised by the program team, which includes selecting teachers.

The  Learning Experience assistant is to support Government liaisoning and project operations in Hyderabad.

According to the calendar of events, the  Learning Experience assistant is responsible for organising boot camps and learning days.

The  Learning Experience assistant will support the school-level & Distinct level events as part of a project, such as share-out events, Hackathons, and student clubs.

Key engagements of the  Learning Experience assistant will be as follows.

Facilitating the CT club students’ learning journey in applying 21st-century skills and stem mindset.

CT Club – The  Learning Experience assistant will hold the CT club, including student representatives from 6th to 9th grade, and  STEM Educators (Teachers) will be a part of the CT Club throughout the year.

Chatbot – The  Learning Experience assistant will onboard all the children from 6th to 10th grade and drive the discussions on content, clarify questions and share weekly reflection questions and solve technical issues.

Boot camps – The Learning Experience assistant will conduct Bootcamp with all students of 6th to 9th grades in every school, once every month.

Learning Days – The  Learning Experience assistant will be CT Club students will do Learning Days with the rest of the school to cascade their learning from the CT Clubs.

School level & District-level Events: Lead and execute  HM Orientations, Teacher trainings, ideathon & Hackathon and teacher recognition events. Organise and coordinate Inter district hackathons.

Responsibilities: 

Facilitation in Government Schools

  • Conduct classroom-based and computer-based sessions for class 6th to 9th students on the curriculum in 4 government schools.
  • Ensuring maintenance of the computer infrastructure at the school level
  • Help students do their projects and present them in front of various stakeholders
  • Conduct Teacher Orientation to create awareness of the project and the support we need at school.
  • Engage teachers in regular CT club sessions and Project related activities and Planning.
  • Support and manage student CT clubs at the school level per the project vision.

School level  Implementation 

  • Ensure there is a proper work plan in place for your school and you are able to follow and deliver accordingly.
  • Be well versed with the content/curriculum of CT club & Hour Of  Code so as to ensure proper session delivery and support Learners.
  • Support Teachers and the Quest team in organizing and implementing the process effectively with all the students.
  • Contribute to the design, plan and execute innovation and experimentation with Students  & schools.

 Volunteering Engagement & Events

  • Ensure School level & District level events & other events are planned and conducted.
  • Coordinate & Organize Volunteering engagement at school: Supporting the Donor employees in volunteer activities and classroom sessions. Make sure volunteer events happen as planned.
  • Organising project Share out events at the school level.
  • Support conducting school-level and state-level hackathons as part of the project.
  • Support any other activities related to the Program whenever needed
  • District Engagement & Stakeholders Relationship Building
  • Building & Maintaining relationships with the District government officials, Head Masters and teachers to facilitate smooth implementation of the Program, including liaisoning, conducting orientations, review meetings, monitoring visits etc.
  • Understand the overall school culture and environment and identify spaces, processes and opportunities to align the project approach into the school to transfer ownership of the project approach to school stakeholders.
  • Support the Project Manager or State Coordinator in getting the necessary permissions for school implementation.

Data collection, Reporting & Documentation

  • Collect required data as per project needs, such as attendance & school information.
  • Supporting the monitoring and evaluation activities – conducting and documenting Assessments as part of the curriculum.
  • Support the Program Coordinator in preparing Monthly & Quarterly reports.
  • Prepare reports if any events happening at school as part of the project (Volunteer engagement or any Quest mentoring sessions)
  • Ensure all feedback from students and events is collected and collated in one place and shared with relevant team members for analysis.
  • Ensure the documentation, including case studies, photographs, and videos of the implementation schools, is collected and maintained.
  • Document and share the best practices in the schools by teachers & students for publication in donor reporting, quarterly newsletters, social media and other channels.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in facilitating Gender & Self, Life Skills content, preferably in the education Development sector.
  • Interest in working with Government school Teachers & students.
  • Willingness to learn and influence prevalent practices in the education ecosystem
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in Telugu (Mandatory ) and working knowledge of English. 
  • Willingness to travel within and outside of the District.
  • Ability to train, build the capacity of, and manage relationships with new people
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other teams
  • Ability to use technology and various virtual platforms like Google Hangout Meet, Zoom, WhatsApp, Google Classroom, Chatbot and other google suite applications.
  • Excited about working with Teachers on 21st-century skills & computational thinking  and Knowledge of coding/scratch and the Ed-Tech tools would be an advantage.
