About the Organization

SBI Youth for India is an Indian rural Fellowship program initiated by SBI, funded and managed by the SBI Foundation in partnership with reputed NGOs. The selected Fellows work with experienced NGOs on challenging grass root development projects.

The SBI Youth for India Fellowship was started in 2011 with 27 Fellows; currently, 450+ Fellows have completed the Fellowship and more than 70% of them have continued to work in the development sector while some have gone on to set up their own social enterprises.

Job Description

The Manager will be spearheading the Alumni Affairs & External Relations vertical of the SBI YFI Fellowship. The Manager will be an integral part of the SBI YFI team and will contribute to developing and strengthening the program by interacting with senior stakeholders & reputed organizations within the social sector ecosystem. The Manager will be responsible for fostering a vibrant alumni community and building partnerships with external agencies including but not limited to SPOs, government departments, statutory bodies, Public policy think tanks etc.

This role will be involved in every stage of the Fellowship including engaging alumni & other stakeholders during the applications exercise, recruitment of Fellows and partner NGOs, preparation for the program, coordination of major events including Orientation, mid-point reviews, Valediction, and monitoring & evaluation of the program throughout the 13-month Fellowship. The below-mentioned duties are only indicative and the Manager will be required to assist the Program Head in all activities required for smooth functioning of the program.

Job Responsibilities  

Alumni Affairs:

  • Manage overall & day-to-day program operations.
  • Provide vision, leadership, and oversight to the Alumni Affairs vertical and committees to plan and execute the vision and strategy.
  • Recommend long and short-range goals and overall direction of alumni programs.
  • Offer facilitation and support to the Alumni approaching the SBI YFI team with various requests & information.
  • Engage with senior individuals within the social sector community including NGO Heads or senior management to pursue and explore requests put forth by our Alumni.
  • Research, explore & implement innovative initiatives and avenues to support our Alumni in their professional and personal growth during and after the Fellowship.
  • Engage Alumni throughout the Fellowship year in various potential engagements of the Fellowship including Recruitments, Orientation, Review Workshops, and Valediction etc.
  • Ensure the smooth functioning of the proposed Alumni Association and Region/City-wise Alumni Chapters.
  • Organize and coordinate Program Events including Quarterly Alumni Chapter Meetups, SBI YFI Conclave, YFI Sahyog- The Pitch Fest & other Alumni Association-related engagements.
  • Coordinate and produce reports, proposals, and analyses for management, on a periodic basis for various documentation and reporting related requirements.
  • Manage Web and Email communication, including development and overview of the Alumni Affairs’ communication platform.
  • Recruit and manage alumni volunteers/consultants/ to work on various alumni-related initiatives.
  • Plan & implement an alumni recognition program, as deemed suitable.
  • Extend support for any other aspect of the Fellowship as and when required.

External Relations:

  • Serve as key spokesperson for the organization and provide communications counsel to the leadership team, including crisis management & conflict resolution.
  • Represent the organization at various community and/or meetings, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies.
  • Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of programs/services and identifies problems, recommends improvements and institutes changes within the current operations & program strategy.
  • Maintain a database of information relating to partners and donors, individual requirements and goals, and such other details as are relevant to the development and maintenance of those partnerships.
  • Build and grow relationships with strategic external allies. Identify potential partners aimed at enhancing the overall effectiveness of the Fellowship Program.
  • Revive, engage and maintain an ongoing relation with our existing social sector ecosystem partners as well as potential partners.
  • Identify potential projects from the Fellowship that are sustainable, replicable and/or scalable and pursue providing additional resource-support.
  • Oversee the development of appropriate analytical framework for monitoring & evaluation of the potential projects from the Fellowship.
  • Oversee the review & monitoring of funding requests, including proposals & concept notes under the direction of the Program Head.
  • Identify and pursue any other internal or external capacity necessary to deliver strong partnership outcomes.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar work profile, preferably working directly with volunteer management, or professional management experience.
  • Rural development Fellowship experience is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Demonstrated experience of leading & managing teams is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office & Google Suite as well as acumen for information technology. Skills in data analysis and visualization. Should be able to design, analyze, and work with qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong writing skills- able to write media collateral, emails, and reports quickly and effectively.
  • Strategic Thinking: The ability to interpret, summarize and synthesize information to create better understanding.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment. People-oriented, with demonstrated evidence of collaborative communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of analyzing the financials and ability to manage the project stakeholders and budgeting aspects of program development and project scale up.
  • Ability to work well as a team and contribute effectively under pressure and in response to rapidly changing needs.
  • Ability to travel to remote, rural locations and other work areas, as and when required.
  • Reporting: The position will directly report to the Program Head & Coordinator, SBI Youth for India & shall closely work with the Head of Operations.
