About “the position” at Ummeed:

The Manager – IT will plan and manage Ummeed’s IT infrastructure, provide training and consultation to users, make recommendations about future planning and development of computing resources and must ensure maximum access to and use of technology services and resources at Ummeed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ensure the maintenance of essential IT infrastructure, including network, operating systems, cloud infrastructure, IT security, applications, servers, and email systems

• Track and Maintain hardware and software inventory

• Prepare and monitor annual and project budgets for IT

• Plan and manage the delivery of IT Projects, analyze systems and provide technical support on existing systems

• Prepare cost-benefit analysis when upgrades are necessary and monitor vendors to ensure that they are offering the best possible service and value for business needs

• Manage IT staff, vendors and contractors. Engage consultants where required

• Facilitate the training of Ummeed’s staff to best use software and hardware; troubleshoot issues and provide technical support when needed

• Prepare and present progress reports to a supervisor and senior team as requested

Minimum Qualifications, Skills required:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working in the social sector and has 5 to 8 years’ work experience in the IT space within the corporate or social sector. Of these, at least 2 years should have been in a managerial role. Work Experience on health care systems, training/learning management systems will be an advantage. The person must have:

• Sound understanding of computer systems, networks, storage systems

Good knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, active directory, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring

• Proficient interpersonal skills and oral communication skills to liaise with Ummeed staff and external vendors

• Excellent collaboration skills to partner with all of Ummeed’s operational teams and support operations

• Great problem-solving skills to deal with problems and find solutions or workarounds

• Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and projects; work independently as well as with teams
