Position Summary

Reporting to: Director, Careers

Every year, hundreds of members from the Teach For India Fellowship community graduate and transition into our Alumni movement ready to take on careers across the Education and Development sector primarily, with a smaller group moving into the Research, Policy or Private sector. Over the years, we’ve realized that there is high demand in the sector for talent and Teach For India Fellows and Alumni fill this crucial gap of driven, passionate individuals willing to solve India’s complex problems. Teach For India Alumni bring immensely valuable skills of planning, resourcefulness along with a  deep passion, an understanding of grass-root realities, an entrepreneurial spirit combined with strong teaching and communication skills.

The Manager, Careers will play a critical role to ensure that 50,000 Alumni leaders from our various programs are able to embark and sustain career journeys that enable them to work towards educational equity while also fulfilling their personal aspirations.

Responsibilities

As Manager, Fellowship Careers

Research and Analysis: ( 40%)

  • Design and execute large scale landscape and benchmarking studies to add to our internal understanding of the education sector job market, as well as the barriers & opportunities
  • Build and continuously update an internal knowledge repository of the skills and mindsets successful job seekers need to be equipped with for different roles in education, which will serve as the foundation of programmatic and curriculum design for the team
  • Identify external opportunities for our Fellows and Alumni to gain more context about the education sector, the job market, and opportunities – be it conferences, events, webinars, online courses, etc.
  • Utilizing data management systems to accurately report and track Fellow progress toward career goals, and recommend data-based decisions regarding strategic priorities.

Content creation: ( 40%)

  • Design a robust career readiness curriculum for Fellows, with differentiated support (for example, differentiated by the pathways, experience of Fellows etc)
  • Design both online and offline content/resources – in the form of online courses, creatives, posters, decks, videos, websites, resource repositories, webinar sessions

Stakeholder Management: ( 20%) 

  • Liaise with the Program team to strengthen and support their efforts with preparing Fellows for their transition into the education sector

As a Manager at Teach For India

  • Contributing to the team goals and priorities beyond individual goals and priorities
  • Serving as an ambassador of the Teach For India brand and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication after committing time in our classrooms to understand our work more deeply
  • Supporting with key organizational areas such as Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, Movement Building 

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • 3-5+ years of relevant work experience. 
  • Experience in complex project management, with the ability to manage and execute multiple projects at the same time.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, and proficiency in using data to drive decisions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to deliver high-quality content through various
  • media to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent PowerPoint skills.
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills to solve programmatic and people-related challenges.
  • A growth mindset, with an underlying belief, that one’s abilities and competencies can be developed through dedication, hard work and practice.

Preferred Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • Fellowship experience preferred. 
  • Previous experience working in the development/education sector, especially in roles with a
  • Course design component/a learning management system.
  • Strong design-thinking capabilities in terms of understanding the dynamic needs of individuals and designing training sessions and resources to meet those needs.
