Position Summary

Reporting to: Director, Human Resources

Directly Managing: Associate, Performance Management

As a Manager, Performance Management

  • Design, implement, review and iterate a fair, transparent and inclusive Performance Management System for 100% teams at Teach For India; drawing from leading practices, data trends and feedback
  • Lead organizational roll out, completion and auditing of key stages in the annual performance management cycle, including:
  • Annual Goal-setting process
  • Bi-annual performance reviews – called Leadership Development Journey Conversations (LDJCs) at Teach For India. 
  • Support for low-performance and recognition of high-performance across diverse functions, levels, and tenure in the organisation;
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to gather significant quantitative and qualitative insights across critical HR functions and the organization to make meaningful connections in performance (ex. Engaging for Results survey, competency analysis, training needs, exit data, etc.). 
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership and across HR functions to inform key decisions with performance data and linkages
  • Own the performance management cycle process from start to end and monitor the timely and accurate completion of the systems (e.g. forms and templates, communications);
  • Lead the vision and execution of a high-performance recognition and rewards system at Teach For India;
  • Directly support, mentor and develop 1 Associate resource working on performance management

As a People Manager

  • Building a robust pipeline of talent to lead the organization
  • Managing and coaching the Directors in the cluster to achieve ambitious outcomes
  • Driving engagement, growth, and retention of team members
  • Engineering and overseeing a monitoring and evaluation system, coupled with strategic direction, to guide our abilities to improve continuously

As a Manager at Teach For India 

  • Contributing to the team goals and priorities beyond individual goals and priorities
  • Serving as an ambassador of the Teach For India brand and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication after committing time in our classrooms to understand our work more deeply
  • Supporting key organizational areas such as Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, Movement Building 

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • 3-5 years of professional experience
  • Experience in driving operations in high-pressure, goal-driven environments
  • Experience having collaborated effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups
  • Experiences and examples of having taken initiative in the past 
  • Previous experience in teaching/education would be an added advantage (not mandatory)

  • Able to lead complex end-to-end analysis; makes connections, distill insights, and craft next steps independently;
  • Able to Independently unpack issues and synthesize multiple perspectives or trends towards arriving at the root cause of a problem;
  • Able to Independently structure and present output-ready communication deliverables;
  • Able to Include the lens of equanimity in decision-making and planning, especially in times of crisis, while maintaining alignment with the vision and mission of the organization.
