With flagship initiatives like Supporting Parliamentarians in Analysis and Research in Constituencies (SPARC) and Leadership and Engagement Associate in District (LEAD), Swaniti has supported constituency development and district development planning in various parts of the country. At present, along with working with 200+ Hon’ble Members of Parliamentarians for policy making, are working as advisors to state governments to ensure the delivery of schemes to the last mile. Major verticals of our work are climate and sustainability, social protection, and livelihood.

Job Background

We are looking for an experienced professional who is keen on taking up the mid-level managerial role of Policy Manager (PM) in the Policy Engagements vertical with expertise on issues related to; human rights, child rights, migrant labor, women, and nutrition with demonstrated knowledge of government programs, policies, and initiatives in the mentioned domain. The Policy Manager will work in close collaboration with the Programme, Operations, Communications, and other teams for the effective achievement of results. The successful candidate should also be able to proactively engage in output-oriented advocacy with Parliamentarians/elected representatives and manage clients and donors’ expectations.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s priorities in the domain of child rights, labor welfare, women’s issues, and allied field.
  • Assist a network of CSOs in their advocacy-related endeavors on migrant welfare and allied issues.
  • Ensuring timely submission of reports, briefs, and other program-related documents to external and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with clients and donors.
  • Expand the existing network of partners/stakeholders and maintain smooth working relationships with them.
  • Ensure monthly/yearly or as and when required meetings of the partners and document them for follow-up and program management.
  • Remain in constant and proactive touch with Elected representatives and cater to their research requests with utmost diligence as per their requirements.
  • Analyze parliamentary sessions/interventions and produce briefs for target audiences.
  • Lead Secretariat support to issue-based informal advocacy forums of Parliamentarians on child rights, women issues, and any other allied field.
  • Draft and review legislative interventions for their timely submission.
  • Constantly endeavor to produce high-quality research briefs.
  • Interpret complex data and reports to present them in a succinct and easy to understand manner.
  • Create, update and maintain the project-related repository.
  • Oversee the quality of deliverables and ensure that the product is of high quality.
  • Take up projects as may be requested by the management of the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team for creating posts on topics related to public policy and related initiatives.
  • Proactively reach out to elected representatives, government, and private stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Lead and coordinate the organization for meetings, workshops, conferences, training, and related activities.
  • Monitor and ensure delivery of project deliverables.
  • Develop an impact evaluation matrix for the projects to ensure appropriate monitoring of the program.

Qualifications

  • Post Graduation Degree from any tier 1 institution majorly in Public Policy, Human Rights, Women & Children studies, Law, Governance, Development Studies, Management, etc.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in the policy and governance space with a strong preference for those working in research or advocacy and management roles.
