Position Summary:
The/Nudge Institute is working with UPSRLM-PRERNA to provide technical input and strategic support for the promotion of rural livelihoods centred around small livestock management focused on backyard poultry and goatery.
The Marketing Consultant will lead interventions on identifying and securing access to remunerative markets for the poultry producers, developing the value chain and the institutional arrangements required for sustainable access to remunerative and high-value markets contributing to an increase in income through backyard poultry intervention.
The position will also be responsible for the use of digital platforms to facilitate access to remunerative markets. The position will support the other districts working in close collaboration with UPSRLM (PRERNA) under the Asha Kiran project. This position is totally result oriented and required to sell all the ready birds on time in the market.
At The/Nudge you will:
- analyse current backyard poultry marketing trends in the state in terms of numbers and volume, time of sale, marketable surplus and seasonal and festive trends. This analysis will include price variations throughout the year and be used in the design of training programmes to advise the producers.
- explore the market potential and consumer demand at the local, district and state levels to inform the design of an institutional structure to facilitate so that poultry producers are able to increase incomes from livelihood interventions
- map existing markets and assess the potential for producers, through regular field visits, to directly access these markets
- support the mapping of the value chain and identify stages in the value chain for possible intervention to improve the income
- establish robust communication channels for timely sale of birds and eggs
- support the development of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) and documentation to encourage buyers, traders and consumers
Apply if you have:
- a graduate/post-graduate qualification in any discipline from a recognised institute
- at least 5 years of work experience in the implementation of community-based value chain programmes
- experience in marketing/sales of agriculture and allied produce
- good understanding of farm value chains and value addition
- proficiency in MS Office, especially in MS Excel and/or Database Management
- ability to multitask and work in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external
- a willingness to learn and innovate
- an urgency about development and commitment to the delivery of a high-quality programme in a time-bound manner
- willingness to travel extensively in the desired blocks/field areas comes under the project district
Would be great if you have:
- experience in sales/marketing of poultry produce
- exposure in developing or working on digital marketing platforms
