 This Plastic Waste Management Project is designed to minimize negative impacts and risks to environment and human health in India. The aim is to enhance sustainable plastic waste management (segregation/collection/recycling) practices through a socio-technical model in line with Swachh Bharat Mission in India, while ensuring compliance with regulations and ensuring improved use of resources. The project targets institutionalization of waste pickers (safai sathis) through improved governance mechanisms, capacity building and improved social conditions. The project also targets community engagement to enhance responsible waste disposal behaviour, and cross-stakeholder engagements for improved action on plastics. To achieve the project objective and outcomes, the project is structured in 4 components.

• Component 1 aims to develop, support, and implement an economically sustainable model (ESM) for packaging plastic waste management.

• Component 2 focuses on design and implementation of Pilots in Material Recovery Facilities (Swachhta Kendras) for improved plastic waste management in administrative wards of selected cities.

• Component 3 is directed mainly to design, sustain, and provide elements to institutionalize Swachhta Kendras in governance bodies and to obtain improved socio-economic conditions for waste pickers; and

• Component 4 aims towards developing knowledge management, monitoring and communication mechanisms based on in-built adaptive feedback system during the project duration.

Duties and Responsibilities
 
Under the supervision of the Operations Analyst, he/she will be responsible for the effective and efficient execution of the tasks and interact with project staff members to facilitate day to day. The key responsibilities on operational matters would include:
 1. Assist in preparing the planning, budgeting, and management of project activities.

2. Support in preparing Utilization certificate and supporting documentation with adequate due diligence for donors for periodic submissions and support in liaising with donors on a regular basis for exchange of information and documents. Support in reviewing and tracking UCs and financials submitted by the implementation partners and fund disbursement tracking.

3. Support the Operations Analyst and Programme Manager, Head -Circular Economy in preparing Annual Work Plans (with Budgets); provide quarterly updates on financial progress of the project in consultation with the project team.

4. Support to organize and coordinate the procurement of services and goods under the project.

5. Preparation of payment vouchers for the project Maintenance of the internal expenditures control and monitoring system with support from Operations Analyst to ensure that requisitions are supported by proper approvals and payments are processed upon receipt of final invoices and deliverables.

6. Carry out any other work assigned by the Operations Analyst and Programme Manager, Head Circular Economy (PWM Project) related to the project.

Education:

Bachelors’ degree in commerce/accounts/business administration or any other closely related field with 3 years of work experience OR High school with 6 years of experience is required.
 
Experience:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in finance, accounts and administration and program support services post bachelor’s OR High School with 6 years’ experience as outlined above
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Financial Packages and ERPs.
  • Should possess strong documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Establishes priorities schedules activities to ensure optimum use of time and resources.
  • Work experience with International NGO/UN/Development sector will be asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Hindi is essential
