Job Opportunity for Operations Manager, Bolbhav Project at Gramhal

Role Overview:

Gramhal is a tech non-profit on a mission to end information asymmetry and improve livelihoods of 50 million rural households in India by 2030. Bolbhav is our flagship product, where we are collecting and disseminating real-time mandi price information. We ran the model in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh and have received positive results. Now we want to replicate this model to mandis across MP. We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager, who will play a pivotal role in developing the operational model of price collection.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and lead experiments to determine the optimal model for price collection: whether through direct employees, gig workers, or a crowdsourced approach.
• Hire, train, and oversee field staff across multiple mandis.
• Draft and implement a standard operating procedures (SOPs) for timely and accurate data collection.
• Design incentive structures and governance practices to nurture a thriving community of price contributors.
• Ensure prompt payment to price contributors and address their concerns in a transparent and compassionate manner.
• Develop strategies to efficiently onboard diverse price contributors.
• Forge strong relationships with Mandi authorities, ensuring our contributors operate in a conducive environment.
• Identify promising markets for future expansion and spearhead pilot projects in new locales.
• Collaborate with marketing, user research, and product teams, offering operational insights.

Requirements

• Deep understanding of the Indian agricultural sector, especially mandis. Those lacking this experience must commit to spending their initial month on-site in a mandi.
• Proven track record in building and managing sizable teams or communities.
• A formal degree in Operations and Management isn’t a prerequisite, but an eagerness to learn and employ best practices is.
• Strong project management skills, demonstrated through prior experiences.
• Analytical mindset, prioritizing process improvements and user experiences.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving work environment.
• Experience in conducting lean experiments and A/B testing is a plus.
