Job Opportunity for Optometrist at Lepra Society in Multiple Districts of Bihar

LEPRA Society is a pan-India health and development organization working for the people affected by Leprosy and other neglected diseases to transform their lives and overcome poverty, discrimination and disability. LEPRA endeavors to diagnose, facilitate treatment to those affected and help them to rehabilitate into the mainstream of the society. LEPRA works in collaborations with the Government and other funding agencies to reach into most inaccessible villages of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Madhya Pradesh states.

About Project : Urban Eye Health (UEH) and Rural Eye Health (REH) project is proposed to be implemented in Patna, Arwal, Bhagalpur, Samastipur, Begusarai, Jehanabad, Purne, Katihar, Siwan, Nawada and Khagadiya districts of Bihar targeting rural and Urban poor population. Goal of the project is to reduce the national prevalence of blindness by focusing on universal coverage of (eye) health services in rural communities.

LEPRA Society is looking for a suitable candidate for the above positions

All positions are for immediate employment. “Priority will be given to women candidates”

Location: Begusarai, Siwan & Bhagalpur Districts of Bihar

What you would do

S/he shall :

• Conduct outreach camps in the community in private or government facility.
• Do primary screening, refraction, retinopathy and other primary level processes
• Support the Government Ophthalmologist in conducting cataract surgery and maintaining case records
• Explain /Counsel the patients about medication and medical procedures
• Prepare the patient for the examination and conduct examinations based on standard tests and measurements
• Strengthen the referral mechanism through capacity building of ASHA workers at PHC.
• Involve in outreach activity and create awareness on cataract at community level
• Prepare MPR and field-based documentation and assist in case study.

Technical /Area of Expertise:

• Able to primary screening, refraction and retinoscopy, able to use Slit Lamp etc.
• Assist ophthalmologists in performing cataract surgery

What you would need to have

• Science Graduate/ Diploma in Optometry
• Minimum 2yrs of experience in providing eye care services at Hospital set up
• Knowledge of MS Office
• Must have & is able to drive two-wheeler with valid driving license.

Salary: Rs.25,800 (CTC)  per month
