We work closely with governments, non-profits, think tanks, media houses, universities, and other actors; to grow their data and tech capacity to enable data-driven decision-making at scale.

Job Description

What are we looking for

We are looking for someone with a postgraduate education in social work, public policy, development studies, business administration and similar fields for leading outreach and partnership in the North Eastern Indian Region. They should have experience of working closely with government stakeholders, funding partners, public policy researchers and other stakeholders in the development sector. This position requires oral and written fluency in Assamese and English. This is a fixed-term contract position for 11 months and expected start date is May 15, 2023.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Understand various ongoing projects in the organization and identify relevant stakeholders for furthering the respective project goals.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, amongst others.
  • Identify and pursue new partnership opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Maintain regular interactions with the stakeholders and update them about the progress and necessary action plan.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events happening in the NorthEast region.
  • Monitor and analyze policy and legislative developments in the relevant domains that may impact organization’s mission and goals.
  • Work closely with the communications team to develop materials and content to support on ground outreach and partnership activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the strategy team to develop policy and advocacy roadmap to advance stakeholder engagement.
  • Organize regular events, discussions and workshops (online and offline) to increase community participation on topics related to organization’s work.
  • Document partnership activities in accordance with existing protocols and standards.

Requirements

Skills you should bring

  • At least 3-4 years of relevant work experience in outreach and partnership management with government and non-government stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work and collaborate with government officials and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of working with the public and governance data ecosystem.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the team on multiple projects across sectors simultaneously and efficiently, in a self-motivated environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop creative solutions across different sectors of engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government agencies, civil-society organizations, researcher communities, academia, and media, to advance their research and data.

Good to have

  • Demonstrated interest in evidence-based and impact-oriented policymaking is preferred and encouraged.
  • Invested in the cause of open source and open data for social good.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to actively engage in public consultations, write policy briefs and opinion pieces related to their work.
  • Prior experience of working and collaborating remotely.
  • Knowledge of other spoken languages in the NorthEast region is a big plus.

Benefits

Consolidated pay of ₹75,000 – ₹90,000 per month based on experience and skills.

Note: The 11-month contract duration may be subject to extension based on the performance of the candidate and the availability of funding for the position.

Our Hiring Process

The entire hiring process averages between 3 weeks and consists of simple five simple steps:

  • You apply with your detailed portfolio/CV and a cover letter
  • After initial screening, we have an Introductory discussion
  • Based on how our discussion goes, we’ll give you a take-home assignment
  • We meet, ideally in a week’s time, to discuss the assignment
  • If all goes well, we’ll have a final ‘Culture Discussion’ round, and you get to meet the rest of the team

Note: Our hiring process works in weekly cycles, where we will collect the applications every week and start the funnel for the selected candidates together in subsequent weeks. Please expect a response within 7-14 days of your application.

Cover letter and a written application

The first step of the process is sending across your portfolio along with a cover letter. On average, we review applications about 2-3 days after they’re submitted. When we make a decision, you’ll receive a form to fill in more details.

Introductory Discussion

This is intended to be a general conversation to get to know you better and tell you more about CDL. We want to learn more about your interests, what you’re working on and why you want to work at CDL. These discussions typically last for 30 mins and are usually conducted over a video call. Once our team deliberates, they’ll email you with the details for the take-home assignment.

Take-home assignment

We would collaborate with you on the take-home assignment that lasts for a week. What we really want is to see what it’s like to work with you and how you take suggestions and your approach toward problem-solving. The team will get back with a  decision to you within 2-3 days of the submission.

Assignment Discussion

Here, you’ll share your screen and collaborate with our team to further enhance your assignment outcomes. The discussion typically runs for 60 to 90 mins. Based on the inputs from the team, we will get to a decision in 1-2 days.

Culture Discussion & Meet the Team

This round is about team introductions, we encourage a free and open discussion. Based on the feedback from the team, we will get back to you 2-3 days, along with the offer letter.
