Position Description

EPIC-India is looking for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Scholar based in India to develop and contribute to research projects focusing on energy and the environment. This role will work closely with the EPIC-India ecosystem including the local research staff, as well as collaborating researchers and faculty to develop and manage research priorities together with collaborators to expand EPIC-India’s work.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with collaborators regarding research priorities, broadly assist with expanding EPIC-India’s research portfolio with a particular eye towards projects on energy and climate adaptation.
  • Independently research and draft job market and other papers in preparation for submission to relevant journals.
  • Provide input on EPIC-India research projects and contribute to public goods.
  • Mentor younger team members, research assistants, etc. affiliated with EPIC-India.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • PhD in economics or related field by the start of the position.
  • PhD level training in the methods of economics
  • Knowledge of and experience with field work in developing countries, preferably including running randomized control trials.
  • India research experience and research experience in energy, environment, and climate preferred.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong quantitative skills.
  • Flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a team player.
  • Strong communication, and presentation skills.
  • Fluency in both English required. Proficiency in Hindi and local languages preferred.

Working Conditions

  • The position will be based in Bangalore.
  • Possible travel to collaborator locations.
  • Candidates must be flexible and able to travel extensively across India as per the requirement of their assignments.
