PROJECT DETAILS
The Khushi Project is based on the principle that an integrated program combining school readiness and overall developmental opportunities for children in the age group of 3 to 6 years contributes significantly in the life of children and further develops a strong foundation for primary and life long schooling. The project will work towards enhancing quality of early childhood education in selected Anganwadi centres/Balvatikasin three blocks of Balrampur district in Uttar Pradesh.
Overall Goal of the project is that Children, in the age group of 3 to 5 years, access quality preschool education services through improved 52 Anganwadi centres / Balvatika in Balrampur district, Uttar Pradesh and are ready to transition smoothly into primary grades.
Specific Objectives:
1.To provide safe and stimulating learning environment in Anganwadi/Balvatika for children
2. To ensure teachers and Anganwadi Workers use gender sensitive resource materials/tools and skills to impart age-appropriate preschool education (curriculum, content, assessment)
3. To ensure Parents have gender sensitive attitudes and beliefs, knowledge and skills to support developmental needs of their children at home
JOB SUMMARY
The key approach of the project is to influence caregiving environment (Anganwadi center and home), caregiver providers (parents, Anganwadi worker-AWWs) and system (supervisors and child development officers) to ensure holistic development of all children (both boys and girls) in early years.
The project is working in 52 AWC with 1872 preschool children directly and 7200 children through system functionaries for the development of school readiness. Preschool Educators have responsibility to implement the preschool field activities and supporting the Preschool component at the grass root level with specific focus on
#Capacity building programs for AWWs, teachers & supervisors
#Implementation of pre-school curriculum and teaching pedagogy in AWCs/Balvatikas
#Facilitating session to create safe learning & play environment at AWCs
#Engaging parents to make them aware of improved child rearing practices and creating stimulating learning environment at home
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To work toward project deliverables, under the direct supervision of technical associate
- Facilitation of processes to create gender sensitive, safe & stimulating physical environment at AWCs and create print rich environment in the class
- Onsite support & coaching to teachers/AWWs for enhancing their knowledge, skill & attitude
- To organize pre-school activities of children in the age group 3-6 years at the AWCs level and to help in designing teaching learning materials and making of equipment of indigenous play materials
- Work in partnership with Anganwadi workers, parents, and other family members
- Use a variety of different educational techniques (for example storytelling, playing games, puppet, media presentations etc.) to instruct children
- To enable mothers to conduct neighborhood preschool activity at their village level.
- To do monthly meetings with parents by doing home visits for educating parents to enable mothers to plan an effective role in the child’s growth and development
- Develop and maintain a constructive and ongoing rapport with children/parents/communities and oversee children to make sure they are safe
- Evaluates children growth, do record keeping and prepare progress reports as per the MIS system of the project

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- DLED or NTTC from any recognized institution
- At least three-four to years’ experience of working in pre-primary education projects
- Able to work on computers
- Good understanding of psychology of small children
Preferred
- Experience in developing small project reports
- Exposure for community engagement
- Understanding of gender and inclusion issues in school education
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Ability to work with government system functionaries
- Having excellent planning, facilitation and presentation skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Proven track record of working well in a team
