About the Business Unit

The Foundation’s Business Unit is high-growth, high-impact unit serving Global Foundations, Indian Domestic Philanthropic institutions, Multi-laterals, Bi-laterals and DFIs, Impact Investors and related ecosystems in maximizing their social return on investment. We work as mission partners in delivering high impact through offerings spanning advisory, research & data, performance management, MLE, anchoring collaboratives, and policy engagement.

Your role

As a Principal at Sattva, you will lead and grow a high-growth Strategic Account with full accountability/ownership for P/L; business performance, high-quality and consistent delivery; member engagement; strategy development; Products and Service offerings; BD and increased market share in the given account across different lines of business/segments. Additionally, your role as part of Core Leadership team will be in contributing to key initiatives in the scale and growth journey of the Foundations Business Unit.  Our systems, process and values provide and enables irrational balance of our efforts towards our four key stakeholders: Clients, Members, Business/Operation and Impact.  You will play key role in enabling this balance and in the following areas: 

Account Management in the Foundations Business Unit

  • Full ownership of P/L which includes revenue and cost management; budgeting/forecasting; financial prudence/cadence and delivering on financial OKR’s.  You will be fully accountable to deliver growth targets each year while offering the empowerment to manage investments/costs best suited to deliver both Revenue and desired margins.
  • Will be fully accountable for client/account management.  In this capacity, as leader for large account – our approach is to go broader and deeper with any of our clients.  In that pursuit, our aspiration is to become a Strategic Trusted Advisor of choice through providing end-to-end services (one-stop shop) and being Expert of Choice.  
  • Demonstrate consistent delivery excellence through leading account delivery, growth of current products and services, and establishment of new areas of work.  Will own delivery, internal/client governance, client satisfaction improvement, client escalations, continuous improvement and will focus on developing stronger and deeper client relationships.  At Sattva, we strive to gain more growth from client referrals and recurring business from a given clients.
  • Lead and grow key existing accounts and new wins customer segments with predominant India market focus and develop in-roads into emerging markets in African countries, MENA and APAC (especially Global south).
  • Lead Go-To-Market strategies and help establish product-market fit for Sattva’s product offerings to assigned account and assist with other Global and Regional Foundations.
  • People Satisfaction and Engagement – full ownership of people related activities with support from HR Partners; Hiring/Onboarding; Career growth; Learning and Development; Member Engagement and Effective Communications at all levels.
  • Contribute to publishing whitepapers, case studies, IP creation and thought leadership that can further Sattva’s presence in the above markets.
  • Lead initiatives in building and establishing scalable solutions and missions in key areas of focus in women’s economic empowerment, healthcare and related areas.
  • Establish Sattva’s tech and data roadmaps in the context of the vertical through execution of internal digitization efforts, and go-to-market validation of new business for the vertical that is enabled/led by data and tech.

Contribute as part of the Leadership Team in the Foundations Business Unit and contributing to Sattva Level Initiatives

  • As a member of the senior leadership at Foundations Busines Unit, take up and operationalize key initiatives for the growth of the unit and participate actively in collective decision-making across all Clients, Members and Business/Operations.
  • Contribute to design and development of key initiatives undertaken at the Foundations business group level such as L&D, developing centers of excellence, ecosystem platforms etc.
  • Collaborate with other business verticals, practice areas, government engagement center and emerging businesses to establish joint go-to-market development and ecosystem engagement.
  • Develop a strong sales and proposal engine for all competitive sales carried out by Sattva, measured by volume, throughput, business size and growth, and client Acquisition.
  • Strengthen Sattva’s brand in the broader ecosystem by representing the organization in online and offline public forums, evangelizing our points of view.
  • Build, structure and develop knowledge to share internally within the organization.

Key qualifications and experience

We are looking for individuals who align with our mission of alleviating poverty in our lifetime and have:

  • 15+ years of work experience in leading consulting and advisory engagements with clients
  • Masters degree in research/development/public policy/ business or development management
  • Experience in consulting, problem solving, managing teams, creating knowledge products, ecosystem engagement and policy
  • Strong business development skills with deep experience and interest to engage in sales calls, developing and owning proposals, pitch decks and pricing
  • Knowledge of the development landscape in India and around the world, including an in-depth understanding of the roles of various stakeholders (government, academia, international institutions, foundations, non-profit and corporate organizations).
  • Expertise in designing and implementing advisory projects, data analysis, synthesizing evidence and building narratives to further policy engagement 
  • Proven leadership in a high paced multi stakeholder client-facing impact organization
  • Experience in leading workshops, facilitating participatory knowledge creation
  • Published written or visual development work in any form or manner 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills (in English) with exceptional attention to detail
  • Appreciation for the need of business sustainability in the impact journey of Sattva
  • Ability to work in an agile and adaptive, entrepreneurial environment
  • Humility, willingness to listen, learn and adapt
  • Willingness to travel
