Title: Program Associate, India
Reports to: Director, India Programs
 
The Program Associate would facilitate decision making on investments by providing top quality program analytics and enable measurement of success of an investment by publishing dashboards on a timely basis. The individual will be expected to ensure quality of data being shared by the investee organization, and work with the respective Program Managers to identify and close gaps if any.
This position would primarily focus on supporting our current project portfolio, and help program team by generating timely MIS, Dashboards for performance of the investee organizations, study balance sheets & point out any gaps in the financials of the organization. The foundation’s current investment portfolio encompasses a broad array of investments, including direct equity investments, fund equity investments and debt investments across many program areas, including education, microfinance and skills training in the US and India.
The Program Associate will have an opportunity to be engaged on a variety of projects across different sectors, in organizations which are under different stages of evolution. He/ she will work closely with members of the MSDF India Team and be the internal subject matter expert on Market Research and Financial Modeling. They may selectively engage with some investees, grantees, co-funder’s, and consultants.

Responsibilities

Support in sourcing & financial due diligence

  • Researching target investees/grantees particularly in terms of their financial functioning
  • Support evaluation of financial viability with each new investment/program/project
  • Ensure closure of documentation and support investment and grant/DCA proposals
  • Support financial due diligence on allocated investments

Execution Support

  • Work under the guidance of Program Manager on appropriate structuring of a transaction, including valuation and negotiation / execution of transaction documents
  • Develop financial models and analyze legal documents

Reporting and Quality Management

  • Develop & help maintain investment/project dashboards. Prepare for reviews on investment quality and reporting to the Management Committee

Requirements

The position requires a high-performing, entrepreneurial investment analyst or with strong numeric and business acumen, demonstrated analytical acumen in an investment bank, private equity fund or impact investing firm. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the maturity and judgment to be an effective representative of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation India LLP is a desirable mix. The individual should not only be good at Data Modelling and Analysis, but also be able to synthesize and present information in an engaging manner.

Education & Experience:

Professional / Masters qualification from a leading university / institute with 4-6 years of work experience in a leading business entity (multinational or Indian).
Experience in Private Equity, Investment Funds/ Banks would be desirable.
Desirable competencies for the role include demonstrated ability to think conceptually using strong analytical skills, effectively communicate to a wide cross-section of people across organizations, and to identify and implement solutions to address complex business problems.

Position Parameters

Office Location: New Delhi, India
Travel requirements: 30% domestic travel; potential international travel every other year
