Requirements
The Role ‘Programme Lead’:
In the second decade of Indus Action, you will be the second line of leadership and the first line in your state of location. You will run the operations working closely with the government at senior executive levels, mobilizing the ecosystem while understanding the evolving nature of the problems our fellow citizens face everyday.
You will work closely with the other Leads to design & implement last-mile governance solutions for welfare delivery to 2.5 million families by 2030. You will also work closely with the IA senior leadership to strengthen its journey towards building an enduring institution with a strong citizen experience focus.
Your first 100 days will include your engagement with state units across different zones in the country, across various functional areas such as research, communications, talent, technology, etc. It will help set you up for success over the next 1000 days with Indus Action.
You should be willing to travel across the country (25%) and, in some cases, to relocate to a different city for a short time to set up the state unit, maybe with a new peer.

We will trust you with the following responsibilities:
- State Operations: lead a lean team towards unlocking the PoWER for the citizens in directly engaging with the state government.
- Stakeholder Management: building and managing relationships with government and the key departments, local media, civil society, citizens, and other non-profit organizations.
- Data Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation: design, deliver and manage to inform data-driven decisions to maximize the welfare unlock.
- Fundraising: raise a small % of the state operating budget via local donors and HNIs.
- Institution Building: contribute to strengthening learning systems, coaching and supporting junior team members, and thought leadership in the ecosystem.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter the most for this role:
- A foundational understanding of the state’s welfare ecosystem
- Program and Project Management with a focus on delivering end outcomes
- Community engagement (grassroots and government)
- Equal comfort and proficiency in preparing PowerPoint presentations and backing them with long-form research & analytical papers
- Comfortable with the regional language subject to state (Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Odiya, etc.)

Location: State Capitals across India, preferred Delhi, Bangalore, Raipur, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Chennai (five positions)
Experience: 6-9 years
Educational Qualification: Master’s Degree in Public Policy/Social Sciences, preferred.

Our financial contribution towards your work:
We will compensate the Program Lead based on the Indus Action’s compensation bench marking rubric. The compensation range will be between 9-15 LPA, depending on the qualifications, experience, and fit for the role.
