Job Summary
The Technical Manager plays a pivotal role in the Department of Science and Technology (DST) Center of Excellence (COE) for AI/ML. This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating technical activities, research projects, and collaborations within the COE. The Technical Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, startups, researchers, and industry partners to drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge AI/ML solutions. He/She will play the role of an ecosystem enabler in nurturing and expanding the AI/ML
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the COE team and startups, ensuring the successful execution of AI/ML research projects and startup incubation/acceleration programs.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI/ML technologies, product development lifecycle for AI/ML products and identifying opportunities for innovation.
- Building sustainable solutions to support AI/ML product development.
2. Project Management: –
- Plan, execute, and monitor AI/ML research projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Work closely with the Incubation manager to scout for AI/ML startups, design programs and identify mentors and knowledge experts for startups.
- Collaborate with project teams to define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
3. Research and Development:
- Lead and contribute to AI/ML research activities, including algorithm development, data analysis, and model training.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the COE.
4. Technical Collaboration:
- Cultivate strategic partnerships and collaborations with academic institutions, industry leaders, and startups to advance AI/ML initiatives.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and technical exchanges with external stakeholders.
- Understand technical and AI/ML related requirements from startups and identify vendors to assist them in AI/ML solutions.
5. Data and Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee data collection, preprocessing, and management activities for AI/ML projects.
- Ensure data privacy and security compliance in all data-related activities.
- Monitor the infrastructure and hardware facilities at the center.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of technical processes, project outcomes, and research findings.
- Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
**Qualifications:**
- Proven experience in product management and engaging with technical teams
- Experience drafting PRD and MRD documents
- In-depth knowledge of AI/ML algorithms, deep learning frameworks, and data science techniques.
- In-depth understanding of AI/ML product development lifecycle
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in working with startups, academic institutions, government bodies and industry partners is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI ethics, data privacy, and regulatory compliance is desirable.
