Set up under Wipro Foundation, our initiatives in the domains of Education, Ecology, Healthcare, Disaster Response, and Cities and Public Spaces reflect these ideals. We work in these areas using an approach developed through decades of social sector interventions and with an objective of making structural transformations that can help us develop a humane, just and equitable society collectively.

Wipro-earthian, is one of our flagship programs, that combines our deep interest in the areas of education and ecology. Now in the 12th year, it is the only sustainability education program in India of its scale with diverse learning opportunities for both schools and colleges. This program has reached over 4,000+ colleges and 13,000+ schools since its inception. On the higher education front, we work with faculty in engineering, management and planning/design disciplines to co-create sustainability curricula and offer unique internships to students in the space of sustainability. In addition, we also run a large national sustainability quiz for college students that was launched in 2015 and has seen participation from 8,600 teams till date. In the next five years, we aim to expand our outreach further, and support platforms for deeper engagement with teachers and students across disciplinary boundaries.

We are looking for a senior person to join the Wipro earthian team for overall program management, with a specific focus in curating and running the engagement with higher education institutions. The candidate must be reasonably aware of the landscape of higher education disciplines in the sciences, applied science subjects, professional courses, among others. She/he should be able to engage with student communities and faculty to identity opportunities for integrating sustainability (specifically environmental issues) in core courses. The role provides avenues to explore other areas of environmental and community engagement projects within Wipro Foundation.

Desired Qualities:

• Passion for environmental issues and education
• We do not expect expertise in any particular area. However, we are looking for breadth of awareness. The candidate must have good understanding of global and local environmental issues, current state of affairs, and responses from civil society, NGOs and government bodies.
• Ability to have conversations with people from different disciplines and participate in processes of co-creating ideas/platforms/programs
• Proactive engagement and persistence, but with open mindedness
• Ability to handle multiple tasks that are both programmatic and administrative in nature
• Agility and ability to handle ambiguity
• Excellent networking and communication skills (written and verbal)
• The candidate must be a fast and keen learner, who is willing to experiment, research and find unique ways of engagement.
• Well versed with productivity applications (Microsoft Office) and comfortable with website and social media content management and collaboration tools

Relevant Experience and Education:

• 8 – 10 years of relevant experience in environmental issues and/or education, preferably higher education areas.
• Employment Type: Can be discussed with the candidate. Permanent or On-contract for 12 months.
