Brief on the Organization:

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health.  PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders.

Project Brief:

Strengthening public health education in India – A capacity development project: Scaling up capacity to educate more public health professionals, while at the same time improving quality of education, requires the development of new innovative approaches and a more considered and evidence-based use of digital educational technologies. This project will strengthen PHFI’s capacities within digital pedagogy, public health education, and educational research. The capacity development in digital learning will also develop a larger integration with on-campus face-to-face pedagogy and blended learning approach to teaching. This experience in integrating digital and face-to-face learning will strengthen the public health education. The objective of this project is for PHFI to be able to support the education of public health professionals both within its own network of six IIPHs across six Indian states, but also more importantly to support educational institutions in rural parts of the country.

Deliverables:

  • Support faculty in the use of PHFI’s learning platforms, primarily the Learning Management System (LMS), Moodle.
  • Contribute to the creation of a help desk/support team.
  • Advise teachers on the use of various digital educational technologies viz. Moodle plugins and extensions.
  • Work closely with the instructional designer and other Academic Learning Unit (ALU) members on setting up courses and upload of all courses materials onto each Moodle site including the creation of course specific accounts for faculty and students.
  • Plan and conduct workshops on Moodle trainings and support trainers and students.
  • Develop guides – such as text, screencast, and video.
  • Assist faculty with technical setups, for example for asynchronous teaching activities in Moodle.
  • Provide advice on areas sourcing any new IT resources like hardware/software or upgradation to the latest version if required.
  • Provide Progress Reports for LMS course development and support on a quarterly basis.
  • Liaising with vendors.
  • Provide technical support for staff and back-end system users.
  • Integrate the learning modules into the PHFI learning platforms.
  • Develop Moodle code, plugins, designing of course format and themes.
  • Support Moodle/PHP implementations and resolve any technical issues.
  • Travel as and when required.
  • Any other task assigned by the PI/ Project Director and Supervisor.

Qualification:

Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in information systems/Information Management/Computer Science/Bachelor’s degrees with certification in IT Hardware and Networking or related discipline.

Experience:

Desirable:

  • Around 3-5 Years’ experience in Moodle development, system administration and support.
  • Should be strong in Moodle administration, migration and upgrade.
  • LMS & CMS administration
  • Experience in Payment Gateway Integration
  • Working knowledge of PHP, MySql and GIT
  • Ability to build efficient, secure, scalable and reusable PHP Module
  • G-Suite Administration.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress and Drupal.
