Brief on the Organization:

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health.  PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders.

Project Brief:

The Training Division at PHFI, is involved in building capacity of healthcare professionals in various disciplines in India and abroad. The division is currently implementing 27 capacity building Programs with the objective of upgrading knowledge, skills and core competencies of doctors and healthcare professionals. The Capacity Building Courses are being conducted in over 600 centers across 121 cities in 28 states and UTs. Till date, a network of over 39,000 healthcare professionals have been trained with a completion rate of over 90%. Training Division is also working with 12 State Governments who have adopted these initiatives for training of their medical officers and Healthcare professionals. In addition, the training division works with diverse stakeholders to develop need based training programs for in-service personnel, employing innovative methodologies such as digital content, onsite mentoring etc. for healthcare professionals in public and private sectors.

Deliverables:

  • Undertaking need assessment for training in clinical and public health domains including desk and field research.
  • Develop proposals, concept note and frameworks for newly identified training areas. This includes developing proposals as per the terms of reference provided by the funding agencies.
  • Contribute in development of draft curriculum with support from subject matter experts and clinical specialists.
  • Support experts in creating, compiling, collating and updating training content.
  • Undertake program planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Organise and manage training workshops including conducting training sessions where ever required.
  • Ensure quality of training delivered at multiple centers as per the predefined protocols and standards.
  • Liaise with funding partners, eminent National Experts, Regional Faculty and Partner Institutions for smooth and timely implementation of programs.
  • Play an integral Role in organizing and managing resource intensive National and Regional Level Meetings; this involves human resource and logistical issues.
  • Supervise the work of professional and technical staff involved in implementation of programs.
  • Oversee the overall implementation and operations of the program
  • Assume responsibility for all program related activities including data collection and analysis, program evaluation and program delivery modification
  • Converses with, write strategic documents for, and create/deliver presentations to various internal and external stakeholders. Lead discussions with senior leaders and external partners in ways that support strategic planning and decision-making and seeks a consensus with the stakeholders.
  • Attend and participate in stakeholders meetings, and other meetings as needed.
  • Coordinate with the team for the accomplishment of the relevant program activities towards achieving expected results in accordance with the program’s objectives.
  • Create and maintain a positive, supportive and team focused work environment within the team and the organization.
  • Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with key stakeholders and other key agencies and donors as required.
  • Supervise the work of professional and technical staff involved in managing training programs, exercise substantial authority and discretion in the supervision of staff.
  • Maintaining the track records of the project/programs.
  • Converse with, write strategic documents for, and create/deliver presentations/report to various internal and external stakeholders. Lead discussions with senior leaders and external partners in ways that support strategic planning and decision-making and seek a consensus with the stakeholders.
  • Travel as and when required.
  • Any other task as assigned by the Supervisor/ Deputy Project Director/ Project PI.

Qualification:

Desirable:

  • MBBS with Post graduate degree in Public Health (MD/ DNB/ MPH).

Experience:

  • Around 6 – 8 years preferable with – 5 years of independent research exp./ 8 years of leading a small team./ 5 years exp. in leading a project, includes taking care of a small budget / 8 years of specialization in the required field with some financial responsibility.
