PATH is currently seeking a Program Officer- Family Health based out of Pune Maharashtra. The Program Officer – Family Health should be a skilled and enthusiastic public health professional, reporting to State Lead – Maharashtra and working closely with Public Health Department, Maharashtra. The ideal candidate should have thorough understanding of MNCH programs in India and capable of coordinating multiple activities in coordination with public health department. He/she will contribute to improve the functioning of health workforce, identify challenges and priorities, and efficiently use available resources to meet and contribute to the national and Maharashtra’s public health priorities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Drive the projects in Family Health division to achieve the project objectives in state
  • Managerial oversight and monitoring of the SOURCE project in state along with other project in Family Health division
  • Provide technical and strategic inputs for completion of project activities.
  • Assist in developing project strategy and work plan
  • Coordinate with partners and state officials for project coordination and reporting
  • Facilitate periodic review of progress for project activities at State level along with other key stakeholders and ensure smooth implementation of project with set timelines.
  • Take up necessary State level advocacy for prioritizing project components and ensure appropriate communication among key stakeholders to enable roll out of project components.
  • Represent the family health work to the donors, State officials, partners, civil society, and private sector stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain strong working partnerships with all project partners and stakeholders
  • Development of annual work plans, progress reports, and other required deliverables
  • Undertake close coordination with the national team and project internal team for implementation of planned activities in the states.
  • Support Knowledge Management – Documentation of program activities, training manuals, case studies, best practices and building knowledge repository.
  • Work in a highly collaborative environment with different stakeholders including the state government, healthcare facilities’ staff, other partners, vendors, OEMs, etc. in the state regularly
  • Support any other need-based tasks relevant for project as requested by the government and PATH team.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree/Diploma in Public Health or related field. Experience in implementation of national health program is preferred but not a pre-requisite.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in professional experience in demanding, results-oriented environments in the public sector.
  • Knowledge and experience of MNCH is essential.
  • Prior work experience with state or national government.
  • Deep understanding of the National Health Mission and other related public health programs.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong command of English and Marathi is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, including the development of compelling presentations with the ability to translate technical content and results in formats suitable for various audiences. 

Travel: The position requires to undertake frequent visits to intervention districts to ensure timely completion of project activities in the state.
