The India Country Office (ICO) is a key player in advancing the foundation’s goals of reducing inequities in global health and development within India. Based in New Delhi, we collaborate with the Government of India (GoI), non-profit organizations, community groups, academic institutions, and the private sector to achieve shared objectives.  

 

**About the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Program Strategy Team (PST):**

 

The PST focuses on addressing diseases that have a significant impact on people in developing countries but often receive limited attention and funding. We work to ensure the effective delivery of proven tools and invest in research, development, and deployment of new interventions, like vaccines, drugs, diagnostics, and vector control.  

 

**The Role:**

 

This position is part of the ICO’s health team and reports to the ICO Deputy Director for Infectious Diseases and Vaccine Delivery. You will play a crucial role in supporting the GoI’s efforts to eliminate lymphatic filariasis (LF) and visceral leishmaniasis (VL) in India. 

 

**Responsibilities:**

 

* Plan, manage, and execute a wide range of activities to support partner and GoI implementation of LF and VL elimination programs.

* Implement critical thinking and management in the field, diagnosing challenges and contributing to solutions to ensure program success.

* Collaborate on strategy planning, develop investment opportunities, and manage grants and external relationships.

* Work with teams based out of ICO and PST to explore opportunities for integration and maximize outcomes.

* Review letters of inquiry and grant proposals, providing clear and insightful analyses and recommendations for funding.

* Consult with grantees to achieve desired impact, conduct site visits, provide technical guidance, convene meetings, and evaluate milestone-based performance objectives.

* Manage internal processes and portfolio progress, ensuring appropriate documentation, grant budgeting, and reporting.

* Prepare briefs, synthesize existing literature on VL and LF, and provide written analysis of key topics for foundation management.

* Prepare technical documents such as concept notes, terms of reference, factsheets, memos, op-eds, and presentations.

* Lead meetings with grantees to assess progress and deliverables, reviewing progress reports and summarizing developments.

 

**Required Qualifications:**

 

* Medical degree with a post-graduation in public health and a minimum of 5 years of experience or equivalent experience.

* Proven program management and implementation experience, including knowledge of microplanning and plan execution.

* Strong competence working in a highly matrix environment, collaborating with diverse colleagues/teams and external stakeholders.

* Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of partners from diverse geographies, cultures, sectors, and expertise.

* Knowledge of infectious diseases/NTDs, preferably both lymphatic filariasis and visceral leishmaniasis.

* Proven experience with grant/investment design and management.

* Understanding of strategies for quality data collection and logistics management.

* Experience with quality data acquisition, analyses, writing, and verbal skills for communicating with a diverse audience.

* Effective collaboration skills within complex internal and external organizations.

* Ability to work effectively in a variety of cultural, geographic, and operational situations.

* Proven ability to influence others constructively and build and sustain collaborative relationships.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex strategies clearly.

* Ability to travel up to 40% domestically and up to 10% internationally.
